Relic Falchion costs 1027 pts with 3 heavy bolters, two quad lascannons and twin volcano cannon (120", Heavy 2D6, S16, AP-5, D2D6). It has bs3+,T9, W26, Save 2+

Shadowsword costs 482 with 6 heavy bolters,2 las cannons,heavy stubber, hunter killer missile and single volcano cannon (120", Heavy 3D3, S16, AP-5, D2D6), It has bs4+,T8, W26, Save 3+

Where is the logic for Falchion to cost more than double of Shadowsword ? You could buy 2 shadowswords for cheaper point (482x2=964 points) and cash price ( 85 quid vs 185 quid)

2 Shadowswords would put out at the very least 6 shots (6xd3 with roll of 1) or average of 12 shots to a maximum of 18. While Falchion averages out at 7 shots or can fail miserably and only shoot 2 shots with maximum of 12. Even a singe Shadowsword puts out more minimum shots than a Falchion (minimum of 3 shots vs 2).

Buying two Shadowswords is better investment since you double the number of wounds and targets, can shoot two different targets and still have spare points to buy some Guardsmen to create a screening unit.

Where is the logic for Falchion to be so expensive? PotMS ,+1T , +1BS and +1 Save is not worth 545 points. At best Falchion should cost around 600 points. Im not even taking into account that Baneblade box is so good since you can build different variants

The 'logic' seems to be that Forgeworld superheavy/gargantuan units don't belong in all but the largest of points-based games. As such they received significant, and seemingly arbitrary, points increases in order to force them out of typical points levels and relegate them to PL-based games, Apocalypse and the like.

As I understand it the forgeworld peeps had no input on the chapter approved changes.

The changes did put forgeworld units into a too points expensive to be practical to take in a game, therefore not worth the financial cost of initial purchase. This apparently caused a bit of a rift where some forgeworld staff felt they were in commercial competition with the main studio and had been dealt a low blow.

To be fair, a Shadowsword is way too cheap. The Falchion makes a lot more sense for its price. Both can literally one shot a Warlord Titan, which is daft. Anything you point either machine at, will be dead.

And thats another issue because wound conversion from HP for FW units is off. The average was 4 wounds per HP. Which should put Fellblade/Falchion at 40 wounds!
