K3nn3rs
Can an allied independent character go in a primary detachments transport vehicle? I’m spefically interested in how the rules interaction works with Knight Errants - could they go in a LR for example? TompiQ
From the AoD rulebook: "Note: Not even Sworn Brothers can embark in allied Transport vehicles, and rules that affect a particular force owing to its Legiones Astartes special rule do not carry over to Sworn Brother allied units." "Some units are described as Agents of the Emperor (notably the Talons of the Emperor – the Legio Custodes and the Silent Sisterhood), or Agents of the Warmaster. These are always treated as Sworn Brothers to either all Loyalist or all Traitor forces respectively." From Book 6, Garro's entry: "When using the Age of Darkness Allies matrix, all of the Knights Errant, including Nathaniel Garro and Tylos Rubio, are counted as Agents of the Emperor." The only case that could be made for the KE and transports is that they're taken as part of your primary detachment, using an HQ slot. However, since they're specifically called out to be counted as Agents of the Emperor they have to be treated as Sworn Brothers regardless of this. The waters are slightly muddled by the Independent Characters section which states that "While an Independent Character is part of a unit, they count as part of the unit for all rules purposes, though they still follow the rules for characters.". Now, I'm not fluent enough in English to judge whether you could argue semantics here, but since it's the Agent of the Emperor UNITS that's treated as Sworn Brothers you could try to argue that being part of another unit overrides that state. Then again that's reaaally trying to twist the rules in ones favor, and I doubt anyone would allow it. So in my humble opinion, AotE means you're unable to embark on an allied transport even as part of a unit belonging to the same faction as said transport. K3nn3rs
Yeah - agreed with your assessment of the rules. I’ve not purchased the new HH rule book yet and was interested to see if this had changed. Thanks for the reply.
