IronKobra
I used the old 'eavy metal masterclass method used on their legion of the damned which uses a dark blue as the Base Layer so you have room to use pure black as a shade and add greys to highlight. I really liked the outcome. I have a blog of them on here somewhere
barjed
Wetbrushing is also something worth considering. I would probably start from Chaos Black, then wetbrush Eshin Grey, then build up (still by wetbrushing) Dawnstone softly and finish off with a very selective, very soft Fenrisian Grey. After that I'd wash the whole mini all over with Nuln Oil.
Kaese
I used black as a base and used dark grey mix to highlight the areas that would catch the light on normal position. Edge highlights with neutral grey were added to edges that could catch the light on the same position. I think this helps a lot to build some depth on the black armor with just minor effort. If you highlight everything the armor will look more gray than black. I use the colors on the details to create the contrasts. You also need to build some depth into the details or it will just look dull. One layer of highlight and a wash will usually do. Easier said than done as death company models do have a lot of details to paint Bjorn Firewalker and Mcrat 2 Back to top
