aluriel00
What do we lose if we take allies: 1. In a detachment? 2. In an army? I have assumed we keep Black Rage, ATSKNF and Jump Pack Assault. I assume we lose Red Thirst and Defenders of Humanity if we include allies in the same detachment. Do we keep them if there are allies in another detachment. I also assume we keep unit specific abilities such as Heirs of Askellion on Sanguinary Guard? Does it matter which detachment has more points in determining which faction the army is? What about the Warlord? Thanks in advance. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343837-allies/ Share on other sites
Lord_Caerolion
If you take "allies" in the same Detachment, you lose Defenders of Humanity, Red Thirst or Stratagems, but not if they're in their own Detachment. You'd still get the Relics/Warlord Traits, as those only depend on what faction your Warlord is. The army just has to have a common Faction keyword shared amongst all the Detachments. So, you can take a Battle-Forged Imperial army, with a Blood Angels Brigade, an Ad Mech Battalion, and an Imperial Guard Patrol, with a Blood Angels Warlord, which would give you the Faction Rules for each Detachment (ie Defenders of Humanity/Red Thirst for the BA's, etc), access to the Blood Angels Relics and Warlord Traits, and the Stratagems of all 3 armies. If you combined the Ad Mech and Guard into one Imperial Detachment, you'd lose the Stratagems for both of them, but keep everything else. All special rules that specify Blood Angel units, like Captains, etc, are unaffected. Brother Crimson
If a detachement is “pure” units, from that detachement gains the chapter tactic or equivalent. Let’s say you mix blood angels in a batallion, that battalion have red thirst. Then in another bataillions you have another Space Marine chapter, that bataillon have their respective chapter tactic. All détachements need to have a common word like IMPERIUM. The downside is that most buff like captain will only work on certain units as blood angel captains gives reroll to blood angels only. In itc the detachement with the most point gives your faction. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343837-allies/#findComment-4996189 Share on other sites
Are Verlo
It breaks down like this: You get the abilities on the datasheets IF your army is battleforged some armies get bonuses: such as "objective secured". This is written in the codex and in chapter approved for some armies. and IF all units are from the same chapter/hivefleet/legion/forge world and so on, then you get additional bonuses as described in the codex (codexes, codexi??) aluriel00
Thank you for the answers. I read somewhere that Red Thirst was only if the whole army was Blood Angels and that didn't seem right to me. Best of luck! Diagramdude
Don't forget you only have access to a factions stratagems if you have a faction detachment. If you mixed one assassin into your blood angels detachment you would lose access to all the BA stratagems.
