Hi all,

 

I have a simple question:

Does a Moritat have the ability to take a power sword while still having 2 pistols? 

Battlescribe does not allow it and me and my opponent got slightly confused the other day.

 

Centurion wargear states:

Bolt pistol

Chainsword or combat blade

 

Moritat extra rules state:

Additional bolt pistol and rad grenades

 

Centurion options state:

May exchange either their bolt pistol and/or chainsword/combat blade for one of the following:

Power weapon

Plasma pistol

Other stuff

 

So from what I understand my basic Moritat has: 

Bolt Pistol

Bolt Pistol

Chainsword

 

And I want to change each pistol to a plasma pistol and the chainsword to a power weapon.

The only word that could interfere with this would be the 'May exchange their bolt PISTOL and/or chainsword'. It does not state pistolS, but to me this is simple because that would be a weird wording for any centurion other than the moritat, and the moritat rules clearly state he has 2 pistols.

 

So, can I run a Moritat with 2x plasma pistol and a power sword?

Yeah, I think if people nitpick over a minor wording issue like that, they’re playing the wrong game! FW rules writing is hardly watertight, so it pays to be a little flexible with interpretation.

 

As the Moritat comes with an extra bolt pistol, he can swap one (or both) of them for a different weapon (or weapons), AND swap his chainsword/combat blade for a third weapon.

 

2 plasma pistols and a power sword? Seems like he has mixed roles (anti-MEQ and anti-TEQ). I’d go for a power axe. :)

The power sword wasn't the final choice, more the option I choose for the sake of the question ;). I've ordered the Moritat a few days ago and will playtest him first. Then I'll see if i want to give him any type of power weapon. Just seemed like a good choice perhaps if I intended to use him as a mid/late game harass unit that removes under strenght units.

 

With the regard to anti MEQ/TEQ :

I keep reading that dual plasma is no longer viable since the nerf and dual volkite is the way to go. But some quick calculations show that dual plasma still clearly out-kills the dual volkite. Both vs MEQ and oblivious totally vs 2+ armour. The only problem is the chance of taking wounds yourself (for you will get 2 'every time' you use the dual plasma, but with artificer armour I'll take those chances).

I think the volkite > plasma argument is an emotional one since they did get a huge nerf.
