Aothaine
Anyone have any good examples of how the Primaris view the chapters they are being assigned to? Have they studied the chapters histories? What are their opinions of their new brothers now that they are in those chapters, bot successor or not? So far all I have found is the opinions of the older marines about the new primaris. Calistarius
Yeah man. There is a lot in Dark Imperium, by Guy Haley. I haven’t read it all, but I know that the Primaris Marines revere their parent legion/Chapter. They hold the same values and traits of their gene-brothers. They also have the same temperaments. Some of them are worried about being accepted into the gold, but many are not concerned at all. It’s a good read. I suggest checking it out if you want to see it from their eyes. duz_ and Aothaine 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/343878-primaris-point-of-view/#findComment-4996998 Share on other sites
duz_
As Calistarius said DI does give a good Primaris PoV of their integration into new and existing chapters. Its easy to forget or not realise that many of these initial Primaris Cawl produced are from the time of the HH. So they actually can remember more of what the imperium was like and the what the Imperial Truth actually means. Bryan Blaire
I'm wondering what happens when the Primaris come face to face with the Chapter Cults - they have to have changed at least some since the time of the Heresy (although they probably weren't referred to as such at that time, and the simple title may cause them some pause). Xenith
If you like exploring this, check out Scars by Chris Wraight. Small plot point: It features an unassigned Terran neophyte who desperately wants to be part of the Luna Wolves, but gets assigned to the 'savage' White Scars, and his disappointment at that, and his subsequent integration into the Legion. Dark_Jober
I think this thread is really interesting. I have not read the novels, cause English is not my mother language so... it is difficult to read some kind of texts. I'm really interested in the Primaris PoV, the only fragment I found is the next one from Dark Angels codex (p115) 'These are the sons of the Lion, and it is no small task to impress them. I have fought in almost a hundred engagements since joining my brethren on the Rock, leading Squad Grellius to complete every mission assigned, yet not a word of praise have I heard. And rightly so - for such duty were we created and trained. Yet against the cultist waves and Daemon tides invading Hive Trall, our squad alone held a crucial hab-complex against the enemy. When Grand Master Belial arrived to retake the area and recover the gene-seed of the dead, he was surprised find we had held the line. I think I even saw him smile. In that moment, I believed our acceptance amongst our brethren was complete.' - Hellblaster Sergeant Grellius So I think this piece confirms the distrust that Inner Circle feel towards Primaris. And also reflects the other side... Primaris feel rejected by their brothers. In the other hand we have Pedro Kantor, who is worried about Primaris they received in Rynn's World (Codex SM pag105) '[...]with Primaris reinforcements from Archmagos Cawl, there were entire new companies of Crimson Fists that had never known Rynn’s World or the Chapter’s rituals.' Also Crinsom Fists page 41: 'A new sacred day has been added to the Crimson Fists’ traditions – the Day of Renewal – marking when the Chapter and its gene-banks were unexpectedly replenished by the Indomitus Crusade. The Crimson Fists renew their vow on this day to repay their debt to Roboute Guilliman.' So we have DA's Inner Circle in the distrust position (well, that is their nature), and Pedro Kantor really happy with his new toys. I also remember to read about Dante and Seth talking about the Primaris in Devastation of Baal. Seth argued that when a "normarine" die, it will be replaced with a Primaris, so in a not too far future the Flesh Tearers will be totally replaced with Primarines, who are not true Flesh Tearers (Seth's opinion). So I think Primaris PoV should will depend on their assigned chapter and their own success. Blindhamster
Seth says that because they apparently do not have the thirst - something that turns out not to be true in the 40 or so years following Devastation of Baal. Aothaine
Great points in all! I'll be picking up DI as soon as I am able afford it. Sounds like a good read to get the pov of the Primaris and I'll also look into Scars as well. I'm really picky when it comes to Warhammer 40k authors so I'll have to read the samples on my iPad before buying them to make sure I enjoy the author's writing style. Yeah, Seth is concerned about the Primaris partly because of the unknown "Red Thirst" but also because they were made by Cawl and Guilliman and not the Emperor. He fears that they are agents of the Ultramarines sent to replace what makes Blood Angels and their successors themselves. Thank you everyone! I was, and still am, really curious about the primaris pov and will continue to look into this. Scars is, in my opinion, a solid, solid book. One of the best in the Heresy series.
