Well To start your over 2.5k though I’m sure you know that.

I would possibly consider dropping the champion or giving him a shield as he needs one to get the toughness bump from the squad. You’ll drop an attack but pick up T5.

You do look to be lacking in anti tank support. 5 Lascannons are not too difficult to inflict wounds on. Perhaps consider a dreedo to compliment them.

As for the phalanx squads they are filled with awesomeness in my opinion but being your only scoring units an apothecary in them might really help you out late game.

I made some changes to make it 2500. I'm looking to see what you guys think especially about the equipmunk I've chosen and the fortifications! I've never used them before and like the defensive nature of this row.

Any help or feedback always appreciated.

You cannot take Phalanx Warders as Compulsory Troops for Stone Gauntlet. Yes, they’re Troops with Dorn/Stone Gauntlet, but the Rite of War specifically requires Breachers to be your Compulsory choices.

Ok, thank you. I'm an idiot and forgot that.

I've gotten here:

It's almost 3k so obviously I have to pare it down. I like the termies for the assault cannons and sunergy with the row. Trying to make it work otherwise. Any further constructive criticism?

Yeah, I always have time for list reviews! :) Well, most of the time. On holidays now, so here goes...

Are you committed to the Phalanx Warders? They’re very fluffy, but with 2 Breacher Squads, you are really over-saturating that type of unit. Instead, I would drop them, bump the Breachers to 15-strong, and add Apothecaries. With some gear changes (flamers > graviton guns, power fists > melta bombs), you’re saving 55 points this way.

Your Terminator Squads each have 5 storm shields AND an Iliastus assault cannon - they occupy the same slot, so you’ll have to drop a shield or the IAC. Either way works, though I like my combat units having some shooting. If you want to save points, combine them into one bigger unit and take a Spartan - Polux, Dorn and some Terminators will all fit in one (25-man capacity). Saves you 170+ points (depending on how many Terminators you take).

I don’t really see the merit in dropping the lascannon from the Sergeant and taking a nuncio-vox. Is it so he can shoot the quad-gun? They’re not that great at anti-air... And 5 lascannons is probably not enough to be a viable threat in Heresy games, let alone 4. I would take 8 and put them into a Bunker, or 10 behind the Aegis.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, I was going to say that you’re normally only allowed 1 Fortification in Age of Darkness games.

I would drop Polux & the Master of Signal and take a different HQ before dropping Dorn - he makes Stone Gauntlet! You could also reduce your Terminator squad-size to save points. Check the IF Tactics thread for my 3k version that K3nn3rs was chasing. Easy enough to scale back to 2.5k, but at 3k it’s got a lot more flexibility with unit choices.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yes, but it’s the worst Consul of the lot. A Chaplain is the same price, but comes with a power weapon and has Zealot & Fear. Much[i/] better than WS6, master-crafting a weapon and having to issue/accept challenges.

Thanks. I would like to take dorn but don't you think the MoS giving bs5 to those tank hunter lascannons is pretty awesome?
