I was hoping I could ask a favor?

At some point I plan on buying an army builder program but for now if you could possibly check my math. I am just now setting up my assembly and painting "shop". I'll post pics as I build the models. But before I start construction ... I'm not sure I'm adding the gear correctly on some units*. The list needs fine tuning and I need to purchase the Scouts and a unit (5) of Hellblasters but it generally "feels" like it will suit my play style and leaves 500 points for growth in the weak areas.

(Primaris) 'Hawks': Base List 1500 (Raven Guard Successor)

1 Captain: power sword (91)
2 Lieutenants (140)

5 Intercessors x4: bolt rifle, auxiliary grenade launcher (364)

5 Scouts x2: bolters, camo-cloak (140)

5 Hellblaster x1: heavy plasma incinerator (90)

5 Hellblaster x2: plasma incinerator (180)

5 Reivers Squad x2: grav-chutes (200)

5 Inceptors: plasma exterminators (295)

You'll notice I broke the Primaris theme with Scouts. I'm going to address that in the Chapter's Liber thread I'm working on. I'm not a fan of the models, and I don't know how I'm going to model camo-cloaks and bolters without buying both kits to mix and match (if that's even possible)? Reluctantly, their tactical usefulness to deny sections of the board during deployment is just too useful to ignore.

But I digress. I really could mostly use help making sure I'm adding units and wargear/upgrades properly. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

You can download Battlescribe for free. Have to deal with ads and some features are locked behind a pay wall, but you get the functionality to do lists for free. It's frequently updated and I haven't found any points errors yet.

C&E has the right idea.  Battlescribe!

Get a primaris ancient!  Don't you want your hellblasters to shoot with overcharge when they die?

Also, what is up with the 10 man reiver squad?  Make that two 5 man squads.  This will make it easier for you to build up to a brigade detachment which it appears you are aiming for with 6 troop choices.  All you would need is 2 fast attack choices.

Nice job on the heavy plasma incinerators.  Having faced this loadout I can say that it is better than most people think.

Appreciate the thoughts and confirmation about Battlescribe as a go to. I remember I use to have a device with White Wolf or something like that.

Well at 1500 I'd need to drop something and boots on the ground are important to me. I get the idea but a Primaris Ancient equals 4 Hellblasters. I have similar reservation about character effective of the Apothecary versus how many boots they're costing the army.

Excellent call on the Reivers I think I left that because I've been toying with the idea of a couple Storm Talons and have been too lazy to see if I could take two as a single FA choice.

Heavy Plasma. Sigh. Not my preferred way to equip them. However ... they are the only serviceable unit for anti-tank/monster duty without deviating further from the Primaris Chapter theme. I can barely fluff talk myself with Scouts (yeah I'm not even buying it myself) and vehicles (which I can totally buy because, seriously it's just a damn seat and headroom okay. GW?).

I'm old school, so I'm like Pavlov's dog when it comes to preferring rapid-fire weapons. I need to play test out options and the Intercessor load a bit. I have this feeling auto bolt rifles my suit this list and my play style better than the standard bolt rifle?

If I need a camo cloak on a model that doesn't have one, I use the rolled cloaks that sit on top of their armor. You can probably get them cheap from a bits site.

And it's perfectly reasonable to assume Primaris can be Scouts before reaching their full growth. I mean, it's not like it happens in a couple weeks or anything. All the Primaris we've seen thus far were dudecicles before joining the chapter. Who's to say they don't have a stage in their development when they serve as Scouts?

I meant get an ancient when you transition to 2k.  That is easy to fit into a list at only 70ish points.

As far as fluff in concerned... maybe drop the scouts and have the reivers do scout duty?  I think that works fluff wise.

Thumbs up on trying the 2K Ancent idea :smile.:

Reivers, the fluff monster in me agrees. The tourney player in me needs an Infiltration unit though

Gaming, like Life, all about hard choices and compromise. Damn Lias and his anti-Primaris rule Lol.

Speaking of thumbs up ... where's the double "like" button for C&E :D

2009 Games Day took a mix of my favorite chapters color schemes and played them using vanilla rule set. I sold or traded most of them off after the divorce but this guy’s tactical squad was suppose to be the beginnin of my 5th edition DIY chapter.

I had this idea about testing a SM unit who could move and shoot heavy weapons :) At the very least, I thought a heavy weapon guy should have a stronger base considering they’re firing a tank sized weapon. I never had a chance to test a house rule but I liked the conversion enough I’ve kept him and his paint scheme is going to be the basis for my <Raven Guard> Successor Chapter.

Actually going to start digging through some old boxes to see if I still have the terminator sprues. The lightning claws might work for this Primaris Chapter Master (Inceptor) conversion (Shrike rules) I am planning to fill out the above army list with.

My apologies High Lord but "We haven't had that (machine) spirit here since 1969 ... ". Although I've always preferred as many boots on the ground as possible, I had a favorite vehicle. I use to run a dual Predator Annihilator list but all those went away after the divorce.

As I build the (Primaris) 'Hawks' there is a certain Flyer I'm eyeing  I recently moved to Indianapolis and learned there is a Games Workshop store about half hour away. I'm driving there today to see if they do batch Forge World orders.

That Devastator looks like Ronald McDonald with a lascannon.

Feel the hate :teehee: lmao

Thanks for the comment on its smoothness, I never did go beyond the base three colors for tournament play. That was almost 10 years ago and before the chemo. Let's see how I do with the revised darker desert yellow and dragon red color scheme :whistling:
