Izlude
The shorts definitely interest me as I heard they are all good. I already have the novellas included: Wolf King is really good, not much on action but some nice bits with Russ and the rising star (Bjorn). Cybernetica was pretty bad and felt it was a missed opportunity...Mars stuff is always of interest to me. It would have been better if it was the raid on Mars for all the supplies by the IF...instead it was sort of a cheesy video game with the dirty dozen (junior tech marines) with a big boss in the end. Otherwise the coverart is pretty sweet! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344017-hh-48-the-burden-of-loyalty/#findComment-5000816 Share on other sites
Tymell
In my opinion this one's got some decent stuff to it, though I think it is held back by Cybernetica. Wolf King was good though, and The Binary Succession was great (though I also think that one deserves to be experienced in the audio drama format). DarkChaplain
I haven't read Wolf King yet, but damn me, I disliked Cybernetica. It just didn't feel like a well-rounded short novel whatsoever. It had glimpses of genius, especially early on, but then doesn't really achieve anything noteworthy and feels very gamey. I read and reviewed it just a year ago now and still have a bad taste in my mouth from it. The Binary Succession is FANTASTIC, but I'm not sure how well it will translate to a prose-only version. The audio production added so much to the overall atmosphere of the proceedings, I would not want to miss out on that. Indefragable
I liked Wolf King. Another great showing by Chris Wraight. Much more of slow-burn story. Also mostly naval in terms of action (good). At the risk of piling onto the SW*, I think my favorite part about it is that is explores the weak point of a Legion ...in the case of the VI, it’s naval warfare. For all their aggression in combat, they get bored with space combat: “just get us to the fight so we can put our axes in somebody” is their mindset. So while they are competent as any Legion at it, the finer points and advanced techniques are lost on them because the SW usually are bored with them. They would rather have boots on the ground and the sky overhead. : something I think should be explored more for all factions. We often have depictions of who is good at what, but rarely what weaknesses or gaps each group has. Begs to be explored more. *Space Wolves Hidden Content I think that the SW are cool, but also have my personal gripes. That being said, there does seem to be a lot of SW-bashing going on lately, so i am not trying to add to that Noserenda 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344017-hh-48-the-burden-of-loyalty/#findComment-5002314 Share on other sites

Mellow
I have finished this one. I enjoyed most of the stories. I love the way Oll refers to The Emperor as “the thing” lol. Plus being “around forty-five thousand” years old certainly puts the big E into the whipper snapper category.
