Source of Dark Eldar special weapons?

Greetings,

 

I was looking at the options for Kabbalite Trueborn and I see that they can take 2 heavy weapons and 4 special weapons, but the Kabbalite Warrior squad only comes with 1 of each option. Is there a good source of blasters and dark lances other than eBay? When I checked last night the least expensive blaster for a warrior I could find was $6 per blaster on eBay, and that's ridiculous.

 

How many of each weapon does the scourge box come with? I think they may be the most cost effective way to get special weapons, especially if you equip the scourges with just their carbines and save all the specials.

Unfortunately the limited availability of the piece on sprues means you're stuck - it's one per box. You could also try bits sites but they'll be hard to find without paying out, as due to their use it's unlikely you'll be able to find a local DE player with spares for trade :confused:

Scourges is certainly where I used to obtain the special weapons (and Splinter Carbines, back when Trueborn could take them), but i think it's far from ideal. There's one of each of Heat Lance, Dark Lance, Shredder, Blaster, Haywire Blaster and Splinter Cannon.

Yeah unfortunately the ebay sellers know how high in demand blasters are so they are charging around $5-7 a blaster which really sucks compared to say a plasma gun which you can easily find for $2. Sometimes you get lucky though, I have found blasters for $3 but those won't stay up for long. 

 

My recommendation would be to convert shredders into blasters, since you probably won't use shredders anyway. It's a pretty easy conversion, just chop off the end of the shredder, grab the end of a blaster off a blast pistol, and put the blaster on the shredder. Just need to be careful when clipping off the shredder end, the handle part is fragile, easy to break off and a pain to fix. Also might need a touch of green stuff to make the blaster fit on better. Looks pretty good, though it's fairly different from the standard blaster so what I do is I have my unit of blasterborn all with 4 of my shredder-blasters so I'm not mixing and matching my different blaster models in one unit. That conversation along with buying a bunch of scourges got me the blasters I needed.

Edit: If you look at the picture I think the order from front to back goes: dark lance, heal lance, Haywire blaster, splinter cannon, shredder, blaster, shardcarbine?, splinter rifle?, blast pistol?, splinter pistol?

I have made blasters by converting the blast pistol in them, so you get two in a box.  It looks decent bc the barrels are very close in size.

The other option, at least for heat lances and haywire blasters, is the Talos kit. It gives you two of the barrels for each, and it's not hard to snip the barrel off a splinter cannon or dark lance and put your preferred weapon instead.

Shame that both the heat lance and haywire blaster are pretty mediocre these days.
