NemoVonUtopia
I have a LR Achilles for my planed Lamenters army and I have been debating on what, if anything, to put in it. I was originally thinking about company vets with power swords and flamers with a sanguinary priest, but I am currently thinking that its too expensive for a small squad that might not do much. I started looking at vanguard vets, sternguard, or death company but I don't know which one is better for a small squad that I anticipate will mostly defend the Achillies from being locked in combat. Paladin777
I have a LRC that I plan on sometimes jumping some vanguard vets with various close combat weapons out of.
Are Verlo
I’d say IF you put anything in the LRA ask yourself how are you planning to use the LRA and what is the rest of your army? The LRA can advance along plenty of jumpers, then you have your anti-inf/ant-cc covered. I am tempted to suggest a lieutenant and sternguard squad. Should the LRA operate mostly alone then a good setup could be a lieutenant and a dev squad with 4 heavy flamers Edit: it is hard to find the «best unit(s)» to transport without knowing the rest if your army and what you expect from the LRA Edited February 10, 2018 by Are Verlo
NemoVonUtopia
Thanks for the input. I'm planning to run mostly primaris units so I would imagine that the Achilles will be out in front with intersessors and such close behind. I chose to get the LRA because it looks cool and to add some anti tank.I was thinking that a melee squad would be good since primaris don't have much good ap melee. It also doesn't help that the only games of 8th I have played were with pure harlequins and a grot tank army so I have little experience making a well rounded army
