So, I have for a while considerd to do a bike army.. Well, Speedy army would be more accurate. A army built arround fast movingt hings, Bikes, Fast small vehicles, A few units of infantry in transports and such. And a friend told me to look at Dark Eldar so I looked and started wondering.. Would they be good for my idea? Jetbikes, Helions, Venoms, A few units of infantry loaded into the boats.. And some of the winged people.. (Sorry, Cant remember their names as I havent played them and we dont have any dark eldar players in the group..)

I havent looked too much at dark Eldar but realised what I disliked the most with the army is the sails on the skiffs/boats so I think I'l build them without the sails as I think they look better without the sails..

Eldar move 7” and DE move 8” so DE are slightly faster on foot. Both have fast flying vehicles and a variety of “jump” infantry.

The big difference though is this:

Eldar have Battlefocus so their infantry can Advance and still shoot their Assault weapons without penalty. So Fire Dragons for example can move 7” + D6” and still shoot their Fusion with no penalty. Eldar also have a few Strategems that allow them to automatically advance the full 6” or to move an additional 7” after shooting.

Dark Eldar however have fast open topped vehicles that allow their infantry to shoot out of. So Kabalites in a Venom for example can move 16” in the Venom, and still shoot their Splinter with no penalty. DE also have Power from Pain that allows them to reroll charges.

Harlequins can Advance and Charge. And also Fallback and Charge.

Well Dark Eldar are definitely a good choice for a fast moving/hitting army.

If speed is what's important I suggest snagging wyches since they have a base 8-10" move depending on if you give them combat drugs.

Reavers got a mid sized NERF as the old clustered caltrops no longer adds a chunk of HoW. Plus the heat lance isn't very threatening to armor anymore due to str 6.

Hellions are now decent anti hoard thanks to their pods.

As for Scourges (the flying guys) they're one of your only deep strikers besides Mandrakes. Scourges should be either barebones with splinter carbines or maxed with dark lances. Just don't expect the lance variant to survive after their initial volley.

Our transports got the expected price hike but are still about the same, though twin splinter rifles are better IMO than a second cannon on a venom.

Just remember one thing. DE are glass cannons who can fail like a house of cards in an earthquake against a smart opponent.

Thanks for the info! For some reason when 8th edition hapend I got all the indexes except Index Xenos 1, Despite me having a necron army.. For Dark Eldar, Can their transports carry full 10 man groups? I think the Venom can only carry 5, But the boat transports? Also, Are Dark Eldar infantry useful?

Harlequins I dont realy have any intrest in.. And regular Eldar, We already got a few in the group who plays them, Thats why I mostly looked at Dark Eldar.

Edit: Ah! Thanks for the extra info SpiritFox! Sounds good to me! =D

With the DE both wyches and Kab warriors are decent troop choices for how you want to play. Kab are your firepower and work well against anything but armor due to the splinter rule.

Wyches are fast melee that can potentially tie up a unit with their no escape rule and drown them in cheap attacks.
