Mainly cause the alternative was to go ultramarine and over embellish the armour til it was too gaudy; they're trained killers of the Emperor, not parade clowns. I made a sort of "stamp" for BT shoulder crosses. I place a small blob of GS onto the shoulder and stamp it with the mold, then trim off the excess. It works, but it's not perfect.
