Vogon
Thinking about the new Custodes jet bikes I find myself asking, why does a jet bike with a gas turbine engine to provide propulsion need exhaust pipes on the side? The exhaust from a gas turbine goes straight out the back and is what pushes the engine and whatever it is attached to forwards. The side exhaust pipes are superfluous and it irks me a bit. Anyone else? Cheers Vogon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344325-dawneagle-jetbike-design-issue/ Share on other sites
Dark Bjoern
Maybe it´s a kind of bypass engine. In this case the acceleration would be provided by the cold air and the hot air would be deverted through the side pipes. Guest
Maybe it's exhausted through the pipes when the bike isn't moving forward, or it used for steering. Divert gases to right or left exhaust to turn left or right. Or maybe it just looks cool. Doctor Perils
Could be for cooling purposes (highly unlikely - pointing forwards would be better for that), or if there is a kind of secondary engine, used for different kinds of atmosphere (or lack of atmosphere) More likely it's just that Games workshop took design cues from both turbines and traditional motorbikes walter h 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344325-dawneagle-jetbike-design-issue/#findComment-5008424 Share on other sites

Grandmaster damion
I'm going with two engines one at the front powering the antigrav plate using the side pipes and one at the rear powering the rockets for momentum Ezr91aeL and Stoic Raptor 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344325-dawneagle-jetbike-design-issue/#findComment-5008480 Share on other sites
Vogon
I like the two engine idea for hostile environments but it still looks odd to me. Cheers Vogon Edit, just had a thought, it could be the exhaust path for the rocket launcher but seems a bit over engineered for that.
