Similar to how you do your armour colors? Successive mixes?

Thank you guys, and JimVandy85 sorry for late reply: yes, exactly. Start with mephiston red followed by evil suns red as separate layers which will be you base colour for later highlights. Build up at least two layers each before doing sparkles. Start building up the texture by placing dots focusing more in the raised areas of robes/tabards/capes etc. and with each new layer and brighter colour reduce the amount of dots. I used evil suns red as first layer, followed by evil suns mixed with wild rider red, pure wild rider red and then I started adding more pallid wych flesh to brighten the colour. Last i used pure pallid wych flesh and accented the most raised areas. to finish the look I shaded the deeper areas with mephiston red mixed with naggaroth purple and naggaroth purple mixed with a tiny drop of abaddon black. Hope that helps :)

Hi all,

I have finally painted the rest of my Cenobium Knights and the whole squad is ready. So happy with their final look. Can't wait to paint more for 30k. Still waiting for the Lion - hopefully he will arrive next week.

Cheers!

Bevulf [paraphrased/made up maybe just a lil' bit]: "Well, shucks! Thanks, guys! The models are really well sculpted. All I did was put paint on them." :tongue.:

Yes, they are amazing sculpts, and I can truly say that without any bias. They are among the best, maybe even THE best, Horus Heresy models yet produced.

But you just plain killed it. Fantastic work. :cool.::thumbsup:

When I entered the hobby in 1998 I was overwhelmed by the 40k universe and all the possibilities that it gave you. I was divided at the beginning between Blood Angels and Dark Angels and couldn't decide which Chapter is better. Ultimately it was the history of the Dark Angels that strike me the most. The betrayal, the hunt, characters such as our Supreme Grand Master Azrael, Ezekiel, Asmodai everythinfg was perfect for my taste.

The only one thing that stood out the most from all of it was Lion El'Jonson character. There wasn't much information about him back then but still all the scraped information showed his character pretty well. His undisputed loyalty (never doubted in that!), dedication to the imperium, even his name, just everything about him caused me to utterly fall in the Unforgiven. Ever since then I dreamed of Lion's model and hoped that one day I will be able to see him !

and that time has finally come. I locked myself for two weeks, took some free days from work and started working on our Primarch. Haven't counted how many hours it took me to finish him but it doesn't matter. He is the First. The best Primarch ever. He is the Lion !
