Stonedog
Brothers! Loooong time 40k and GW player just getting back into table stop games. Quick question: Do I have to have the BA data cards to play?
Kallas
Nope! They're damn handy to have, especially if you play Maelstrom games (ie, tactical objectives that can change) as then you won't need to roll dice and flip between pages to check what they are, but they're nothing that the books don't contain. Halandaar
I'm a big fan of them, especially for things like psychic powers (which unless I place the card next to the affected unit, I always forget about), but they are completely optional. Panzer
You don't need any cards whatsoever but I highly recommend at least the Objective cards. It's way more comfortable to simply draw a card than to roll 2d6 and compare the result with two tables. Same goes for psychic cards. Way more comfortable than having dice placed somewhere near the model or whatever. The Stratagem cards are not that needed tho imo. There are just way too many to use the deck properly unless you pick some you use more often (tho then you run the risk of forgetting the other more rarely used Stratagems I noticed). Paladin777
I don’t have any card sets, and I’ve never felt the need for the psychic cards (and as a Thousand Sons player, that says something). However, have felt that objective cards would have been a wonderful tool to have every time I’ve played a maelstrom mission! So recommend them even if only for the mission cards! Ornithologist
I'd call it an optional, but definitely, a quality of life improving tool to play with. So, your call. I went with yes.
