I myself have always liked fielding BSS. They might not be viewed as the best unit but i find them quite solid, especially jumping from cover to cover, their survivability and utility is great. Which bring me to the other reason i love them. To be able to take 2 specials or a special and heavy plus whatever on the superior; i love the versatility this has for it. They are my go to girls for TAC. A heavy flamer, a meltagun and usually a plasma pistol on the superior: all set to go.

These girls are my bread and butter, I'll 9 times out of 10 run a battallion of them.

Dominions and seraphim i save as the seasoning to compliment my meat and 3 veg of bss. Only run 1 or 2 squads of either, though usually just one of each.

I like throwing them in immos, though i have experimented recently running 15 girl squad as well to surprising success. Never thought id see the day where i wasnt afraid of 30 charging choppy gaunts.

I love the play of our Fast Attack heavy, so that would gravitate towards Outrider... but still getting 3 FA in a Battalion usually means that's what I am really going to build, points permitting.  Especially now that our Denying the Witch is purely CP-based.

I bounced around a ton early on in 8ed. For anything competitive I have settled on beginning with an outrider with Celestine, twins, and six SB Dom squads in Repressors. The rest of the points are left to fill up whatever else I happen to be in the mood for. CP's aren't looming large enough for me to build for them yet. Save 1 for the Celestine's re-roll, the 4+ CP's get saved for Deny the Witch and Martyrdom.

I re-rolled a Deny first turn on Fateweaver's invuln buff, got it the second time. He nuked Celestine. Popped her up in his backfield so she could claim an objective and start hunting his Predator's. Ret's got the AoF to paint a bullseye on his chest. All my Dom's rolled up on him, stormbolter hell almost had him, then the Ret's finished him off. Game was basically over and I still had four CP's to cause trouble with. Ended the game with 2 left.

I try to field as much of my sisters variety every game that I can (I played a lot of spam in 7th and now I am bored by it!) which means, most of the time, a brigade.

In an effort to pack as many special and heavy weapons in as I can (from the models I have), I usually end up loading out BSS. My staple was 4 squads with double storm/HB and 2 with double melta, leaving the multimeltas for a ret squad - to round out the pen engine and exorcist combo. The mm rets are a huge fire target, but they also wipe a 24” bubble around them clean of the enemy, and a hospitaller and dedicated act of faith keep them coming back in r shooting twice and wrecking face.

I’m going to switch it up today, though, and load up my BSS with melta/multimelta and stick the heavies in a reg squad. We’ll see if I like it more or worse.

I just can’t really justify -not- taking a brigade if I am going now to be fielding roughly the same models anyway, just swapping the position of the sisters in the squads. I don’t know, maybe I am caught in my own trap.

I am limited of course by what I have: 6 melta, 5 mm, 6 heavy bolters, 4 storms, 3 heavy flamers, and 9(?) flamers. Pity those are so bad this edition!

Cheap battalion (celestine, cannoness and 3x 5 bare BSS) makes it into most of my lists.

Start of 8th I ran mostly Outrider detachment and Spearheads with Seraphim, Doms and Exorcists, but the 3 bare BSS squads are a cheap 135pt investment that add a lot by taking up board space and screening out my deployment. Keeps my backfield exorcists and rets safe, leaving Celestine and the faster elements to go rampaging off.

The rest of the points are then eaten up by something fun (usually an Outrider detachment).

I really love fielding a battalion with: two Canonesses; five five woman BSS each with heavy flamer, flamer, combi-flamers; five woman Dominion squad with all the melta; nine woman Seraphim with hand flamers (only specials I have for them); five woman Retributors with four heavy flamers and combi-flamers; some sort of assault unit with priest (Arco-flagellants, Death Cult, or Repentia with Mistress). The BSS double up in Rhinos with one teaming up with the Retributors, the Dominions get a flamer Immolator, and the assault squad, priest, and Canoness she all team up in a Rhino.

I love how demoralizing flamers are for the enemy and how I get to roll so many attacks for each tiny unit. I also love the damage output a Canoness can have against stuff without a good invuln.
