When I saw this clip on Youtube, it immediately reminded me of the excellently written fight scene in Templar.

doesn't it? it's a beautifully rendered argument in favour of chinese authoritarianism. the rebellious hero eventually gives in to the idea of an emperor, going so far as to die for this new found realisation.

Pretty much any cool pictures/scenes of ancient Chinese men are a real-world simulacrum of the V legion.  Thats what I see.

i don’t so much get that, though there is a little han Chinese influence in the WS

 

but things like watching all hundreds of courtiers practically worshipping the soon to be emperor and the heroes beating back entire armies puts me in mind of primarchs and setting

The similarities between the scene in 'Templar' and 'Hero' is striking.... you may have something there

WS use some Chinese weapons and Chinese-sounding names and terminology, but they're still more Mongol than anything else.
