The Taffster
Hi All, thought I'd finally get around to making a hobby thread to keep track of my goings on. Been a busy month between mine and my daughters birthday (and still unpacking after moving house before Christmas) so not had time to do much hobby, however I did manage to pen a short lore piece that sets up the background for my Commander and Regiment. Hope you like it, will add more at some point. I'll also be following up this post tonight with some pics of the current stage of the regiment and future additions. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Cadian 211th Regiment Commander: Col. E. Iorwerth Imperial Historic Record Circa 999.M41 Following the final stand of Cadia, and the survival or mere handful of his men, Company Captain Iorwerth of the Cadian 8th - 17th Company was awarded Honourifica Imperialis and promotion to Colonel of the 211th Cadian Regiment, who had recently lost a sizeable portion of their forces and command cadre following a failed planetstrike against the forces of Chaos on the planet Thandore Prime. His first duty as Commander of the 211th was to succeed where his predecessor failed, and wrestle back control of Thandore from Xenos and Heretic forces. Having spent many weeks in warp, Iorwerth arrived in the Thandore system, bringing with him his previous companies surviving veterans from the fall of Cadia bolstering the 211th just shy of half their operating capacity. However there was little time time to bolster the remainder of the regiment, as the assault was scheduled to take place with post haste. The Imperial Navy had taken control of the system some weeks prior, leaving 211ths approach to the Thandore Prime clear, heavy orbital bombardment had been underway for some time before their arrival however resistance remained heavy. No clear landing site had been determined, the landing would be hostile, but necessary. E. had always commanded from the front and was insistent on going in with the first wave. Much to the dismay of the follow commanders. This action however did command the respect of the Blood Angels company that had been assigned to the fleet, who saw it fit to support the landing with a spearhead assault of elite marines. The descent was swift, the landers deposited their units with precision and finesse, the Guard formed on the outskirts of a ruined city and were met instantly by the forces of the Arch enemy, surrounded by the vile abominations of Nurgle and Tzeentch they pressed their attack. As the battle commenced, the Blood Angels drop pods deposited their dreadnaughts and assault troops alongside the guardsmen - eager to meet the enemy in battle. The combined firepower of Imperial forces decimated the daemonic hordes as they approached wave after wave, volleys of las fire and the pounding of Battle Cannons turned the daemons into a haze of red and yellow puss before the spearhead. The fighting was quick and fierce, the enemy had thrown everything at the landing in hopes of denying the Imperial forces their foothold, but ultimately, they failed. The spearhead was successful in establishing a secure landing zone at minimal cost. The victory was however short lived, as something was out there, and it was coming... <Full Battle Report Awaiting Commissarant Authorisation for Release> +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The Cadian 211th as they stood just before Christmas:Since then there's been plenty of additions to the regiment.. Ulrik_Ironfist
That is a pretty impressive collection. Good fluff too. Kinda inspires me to write out a new set of fluff, since I've decided to go whole hog on the Cadian train. Private Jenkins
Nonsense! Wars are won by boots on the ground, not fancy play boys prancing around in tanks! Praise be to the humble Guardsman. The Taffster
Nice to see the picture, we'll need some close ups - and you'll need some more tanks I painted them when I was about 14 so they're too bad for closeups.. Here's a few I've actually repainted though: Speaking of more tanks.. I just picked up 2 Demolishers and have another LRBT ready to paint alongside a Chimera and Valkyrie... Still need that third baneblade though I also purchased a large amount of guard infantry and tanks from someone who was having a clear out, so got another few arriving tomorrow..
