Aothaine
Hey everyone! I was looking into the Nobz unit last night and this morning and found that they are really versatile. They are expensive but they can pack a mean punch but they need a delivery system. 1st build So, for this first build their goal will be to take out flyers and hordes. Nobz (10 Nobz) - 442 pts - Kombi-weapon with Scorcha x10 - Trukk w/ Big Shoota This is a pretty expensive loadout. But look what it can do. 10d6 S5 -1 D1 attacks that auto hit within 8". Flyers are going to steer clear of this unit as much as they can but the Trukk is pretty mobile. You can also use this unit as a counter-attack to assaults. Enemy assaults your boyz unit, boyz withdraw on their turn and you wheel up this unit and drop the 10d6 auto hit shots into the enemy. Really like this loadout. 2nd build This build will be a counter-assault build. Nobz (5-10Nobz) - Varies - Big Choppa x5-10 - Trukk w/ Big Shoota Every Nobz unit can get expensive. What is special about these guys is that they hit really hard. The Big Choppa is a +2S -1 D2 weapon. Making their attacks S7. Which is pretty huge. They can wreck most vehicles. Basically these guys can be built to be a specialist unit that targets specific unit types or they can become a catch-all if you want to drown them in points. Big Choppa with the Kombi-weapon Skorcha is brutal against a lot of different units but they are expensive. You can also equip them with power klaws but with the -1 to hit I wouldn't suggest this option untill we get a reroll-hits aura. Though it is handy to have them on Painboys and other units. toaae
Before I say anything else, I cannot stress enough how worthwhile every ammo runt you can take is. As ablative wounds, they can take D2+ weapons that target nobs, or suffer the wound when your transport is killed. Despite being on 1W and 6+, I'm pretty sure they each one doubles the life of it's corresponding Nob. Take Ammo Runts. Don't even think twice about it. Ok, now, I've been using a small unit outfitted with Big Choppas in a truck, and I've liked it. They pack a punch and I've found really help deal with higher toughness models that you can't get enough boys in to overwhelm with dice. My set up:1x Nob Boss w/ Killsaw & Kombi-Skorcha 5x Nob w/ Big Choppa, Shoota, and Ammo Runts It's 191 points, with 17 wounds. I keep the unit at 11 to fit in a trukk with the WAAAGH!!! Banner Nob. The unit has fifteen S7, Ap-1, D2 attacks, plus the three Killsaw swipes for funsies. I've liked the unit a lot. Warhead01
Now I'm interested to try 10 Nobs sluggas & Choppas + ammo Runt X2 + Mob up. Probably have to jump them up the field. Also I have a lot of Power Klaw nobs and now I think I have way too many for this edition. For the points I think MANZ are the better buy. I mean if both units are comprised of the same models? Do they even have stats? if not then aren't they basically wargear and an ablative wound? This would have been a good two units for me to field yesterday. Normal Norman
I have just checked Mob Up and all it says that they must have the same data sheet, which they will so I guess it is ok. toaae
Do they even have stats? if not then aren't they basically wargear and an ablative wound? Yeah, they have the grot stat line. Nobz have a rule that you always use a nob's toughness value when wounding, and you ignore the death of ammo runts for morale purposes. But, in every other way, they are a normal model. patchestheclown
Just be careful because ammo runts count towards transport capacity. My favorite way of using nobz is: ~7 or so, nob with klaw, rest with big choppas + ammo runts - Nob with Waaaghh Banner - Battlewagon with Deffrolla If i'm feeling extra spicy throw in a painboy, a warboss, and a weirdboy with the warpath ability The Nob with Waaagh banner is flat out amazing with the Nobz because it allows them to hit on 2s (any klaws on 3s). The whole gang is quite expensive but I find its an excellent distraction and a great hammer to the 30 boyz being jumped ahead anvil.
