I’m not going to disagree with that, but for some reason I always see Primaris Marines as more Like the clone soldiers from Star Wars then individual soldiers from… Well just about everything else so it kind of seems fitting in my mind at least. I know from fluff standpoint that’s totally wrong, but that’s what comes to mind.

I Thoridon rise to the Troops challenge of Blood & Zeal and vow to build 2x 5-man units of Intercessors for a combined total of 10 PL on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018.

With the Dark Imperium set and the extra box of 5 I have enough to make 3 squads but I'll stick with 2 for this vow. Going to use the Dark Imperium models and then probably go with some extra bits from the 5-man box to adjust a few things, plus a couple of power swords are likely from my collection for the sergeants.

Yeah Paladin, like Belisarius has given us some automatons or sth :D

One thing I wanted to share, that I'm pretty proud of - a Blood Drop conversion of the skull emblem on the breast plate:

A really simple thing and done with just a knife. Gonna use that on half of the squad that will not have this section obscured by the rifles.

Update: Intercessors built. Those Dark Imperium sets might not have the options of older kits but at least they're quick to put together. I made a few small changes from the base models:

- Each Sergeant has a power sword from my spares.

- A few scopes added to bolt rifles that had none for some reason (taken from the 5-man kit as I'll probably build Autos from those).

- Used a few little bits to add custom auxiliary grenade launchers to each squad, plus a bunch of grenades added to the belts of those 2 models to help them stand out.

That'll probably be it for today, I'll basecoat them over the next few days.

Great conversions - I'll be picking up a DI box this week and probably vow the contents for B&Z. I was wondering what to do about the grenade launchers - what bitz did you use?

I, Zebulon rise to the Troops challenge of Blood and Zeal and vow to build a five-man tactical squad for a combined total of 5PL (?) on or before 2359 UTC March 5th 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels, whilst failure is not an option.

Every little helps, right?! I will be using a mix of parts for each model and non-standard posing, and will thereby aim to gain a conversion bonus.

...have I got the image hosting right this time?! Hope so.

You will note some sternguard sprues there; I will be saving some of that stuff for a later vow but also using some of it now.

I took a couple of random bits from the 5-man Intercessor sprue. The 'barrel' (red arrow) was just a little cylinder shaped thing that looked the right size and there were two of them which was ideal. For the other bit behind the barrel (green arrow) I just used that little block off the same sprues, which has a mini dial thingy and bit of tubing.

I figured they fit together ok and didn't look too out of place, and I may file the back of it a bit more before painting to give a slightly rounded edge rather than sharp. Not the biggest conversion but it saved the actual grenade launcher in the 5-man box for when I build that unit.

The pair of grenades added to each side of the 'flap' bits of the belt are from an old sprue - probably got dozens of those things I never used before.

I RelentlessPursuit, rise to the Troops challenge of Blood & Zeal and vow to build one Intercessor squad (5) for a combined total of 5 PL on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels Faction, whilst failure is not an option...

Intercessors seem to be a popular choice this round. All the best with it :tu:

The big pile is all the parts from the Intercessors 10-man sprues. The small one contains pauldrons, helmets, chainswords, knives and blood symbols from the DC, BA Primaris upgrade and some other sprues I do not recollect :tongue.:

(Finally managed "the spoiler" :biggrin.: )

Edit: DO NOT DO WHAT I DID! leave the parts in the sprue.

I'v enever imagined in my life that there is ONLY ONE set of legs and greaves for each torso. 5 sets total. In terms of pose creation, this is kit is less customizeable than the scouts or orc boys sprue... And it takes like twice as much time to assemble.

Welcome to the Troops category and ouch, that is a nasty pile of bits. Did the same with my GK box to save space (what? I got it for the bits) and have regretted it since. All the best with your vow :tu:

Vow logged :) When done, please list what changes you've made so I can allocate bonus points if necessary.

Yes, every little helps. Thanks for vowing and I look forward to seeing what you come up with - maybe I'll get some inspiration to do mine :)

Updated to here

Keep getting those vows in folks, the sooner they are in, the sooner we get some points on the board.

Absolutely agree. I've sent some recon off to the Templars. Their troop choices are insanely PL-powerful (eg.: 12PL for a crusader squad of 5 initiates, a sword brother and a neophyte - 7 models!!!). Excellent for this kind of competition ;)

Scouts built and adding some coffee/rocks to them today.

Thank to Xenith and Kaese for some comments on the cloaks - green stuff press mold seems to have worked ok.

scout construction

Not for the challenge, but there is a little extra in there for an 11th mini hidden away :-)

Edit: btw the head/shoulder fit on the scouts *suck*.

Unlike the regular marine heads they are shaped more like a cylinder than a dome.

Trying to turn them 90 deg to look down the rifle needs a bunch of fitting/sanding to get them to work.

I don’t have pics yet, but the legs and torsos on all mine are done and some of them have arms and heads on too. The Primaris kit might not be very customizable, but it Is really easy to put together if you keep your bits on the sprue and take them off as you build.

B&Z2018 Troop Vow

Then, a humble vow for HQ stratagem that was upheld (not that I had any other suitable model), now, a humble vow for the Troops stratagem, again no other choice (or time to be honest).
