I, spagunk, rise to the Troops challenge of Blood & Zeal and vow to build :

1 tactical squad with Flamer, Combi-flamer and Heavy flamer

1 tactical squad with Plasmagun, Multi-melta and combi-plasma

1 Scout squad with 4 sniper rifles and 1 bolter

for a combined total of 22 PL pts on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels whilst failure is not an option...

Another huge vow, it's like your building a whole new army

All the best, remember the undercoat!

I DBH, first of his name, rise to the troops challenge of Blood and Zeal and vow to build 1 squad of Scout Marines with Bolters, a heavy bolter for a PL of 4 on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels whilst failure is not an option...

I will be using respirator heads as a swap, with a few minor other changes.

Swapping bolters, adding some assault blades for looks etc. Hoping to get this finished tonight/tomorrow morning. Just not enough time to do everything I want.

Vow completed

Completion logged, well done. I think I need to source some heads like these for my Land Speeder Storm

2nd Vow, a full 10 man tactical squad composed from the Space Marine Heroes collection series. I may do a couple head swaps. nothing major though.

I DBH, first of his name, rise to the troops challenge of Blood and Zeal for a second time and vow to build 1 Sergeant with grav-pistol and chain sword

7 Tactical marines

1 specialist with plasma gun

1 heavy with heavy bolter

for a PL of 9 on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels whilst failure is not an option.

All the best with vow #2. These should be straightforward?

I Mcrat rise to the Troops challenge of Blood & Zeal and vow to build 1 unit of 5 Intercessors for a combined total of 5 PL on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels, whilst failure is not an option...

Vow complete!

Only modifications to the DI set was to carve off the molded shoulder pads to replace them with BA ones, and add a little flair to the sergeant's backpack.

Edit* Forgot, I also carved off the sergeant's wrist and magnetised it to allow for future chainswords/power swords.

Looking good! How easy was the shoulderpad work? Completion logged!

My vow also completed:

Both squads:

First squad:

gallery_105306_14251_23264.jpg

gallery_105306_14251_131253.jpg

Second squad:

gallery_105306_14251_7946.jpg

Now the changes I've made are as follows:

1. Sergeants:

- head swaps (SG and BA Upgrade sprues),

- skull on the chestplates remodelled to blood drops,

- Bolters on straps (originally on right arms) moved to left arm and back respectively,

- chainswords (DC and Veterans sprues) added (some hand cutting/adjustments here),

- extended pistol magazine added to the hand grip,

- shoulder pads added from DC, BA Upgrade and Veterans sprues

2. Marines:

- Shoulder pads added for each with BA iconography (DC, BA Upgrade, BA Primais Upgrade sprues),

- lots of daggers added from SG, BA Upgrade, SW and original Primaris sprues,

- 3 helmets swaps (DC and Veterans sprues),

- 3 backpack swaps (DC sprue),

- 1 bayonet conversion,

- lots of devotional trinkets added (BA Upgrade and BA Primaris Upgrade sprues)

- few sights swaps/add ons as box-fed bolt rifles had none, and few long ones added in place of the standard ones

I generally kept the sickle magazines with just a few rifles sporting box magazines which I simply like a lot :smile.:

I'm especially happy with the blood drop conversion on the chest plates and extended magazine for the bolt pistol on the sergeant.

Excellent work! You seem to be enjoying the event so far :smile.: Out of interest, what undercoat have you used? Were your tweaks straightforward? Thanks for the list of bits :smile.:

Well, my boxes finally came in, and I have all weekend, so...

I The Unseen, rise to the Troops challenge of Blood & Zeal and vow to build 3 units of 5 Primaris Intercessors for a combined total of 15 PL on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels, whilst failure is not an option...

Welcome aboard! Hope the weather holds for you so you can get the undercoat down :smile.:

Looking good! How easy was the shoulderpad work? Completion logged!

Some arms are easier than others, but it's not too bad. After doing a few of them now I'm getting less scared of ruining the model. Still have to be careful as some of the shoulders have a hollow inside so if you cut too deep you'll be left with not much to glue the pad on to. But just chop away until you hit that spot and then be careful.

I, Xenith, rise to the Troops challenge of Blood & Zeal and vow to build 5 tactical marines and 5 scouts for a combined total of 9 on or before 2359 UTC March 5th, 2018. Success will bring honour to the Blood Angels, whilst failure is not an option...

The camo looks solid, can't tell the difference from the plastic and green stuff ones; congrats on your completion :smile.: Anything lined up for the subsequent rounds?

Thanks - I have the rest of what would have originally been a command squad in mind for the elites; champion, banner and novitiate.

That's probably it though for Blood & Zeal; don't think I've got anything else I can line up for the other blocks.

Excellent work! You seem to be enjoying the event so far :smile.: Out of interest, what undercoat have you used? Were your tweaks straightforward? Thanks for the list of bits :smile.:

Yes :smile.: The modelling part was always the greatest fun for me :smile.:

Undercoat is thinned down Mephiston Red applied with the brush. It takes time, but now we have around -10 degrees Celsius at all times in Poland. So not very good for spraying.

The tweaks were mostly straightforward as it took long enough to assemble the guys from the parts pile   And I always search for poses that would satisfy me which also takes time.

For the Elites I plan to vow VanVets, a Contemptor (not the FW unfortunately :sad.: ) and if the parts arrive - a DC dread :cool.:

Vow complete, models undercoated. Each of the scouts has been converted with a green stuff camo cloak, and the tacticals have been kitbashed from multiple kits including: BA tactical squad, space marine tactical squad, sanguinary guard, ravenwing command squad, 2004 tactical squad, metal librarian, space wolves pack, blood angels upgrade sprue (pad on each model).

I had intended to provide a complete list of what bits came from where, but somewhere along the way I lost focus. Here's what I can confirm:

Sgt: legs from SM Captain/Commander; torso from company champion in Command Squad; hand flamer from BA tactical squad; chainsword from Sternguard Veterans

Pointy Marine: legs from SM tactical squad, torso from BA tactical squad; bolter arm from sternguard veterans; pointing arm from SM command squad.

The other three are again a mix mostly of SM tactical, BA tactical and sternguard veterans. Knifey dude head definitely from Vanguard Vets box. Beyond that I forget.

EDIT: It is also amazing how what look reasonably hi-res, well focused photos on a phone look :censored: when shown on a proper screen... :blush.:

Additional images:

Vow completed for the glory of the God-Emperor. Two ten-man tactical squads and a five-man scout squad.

The Tac sgts are equiped with a combi-melta and power sword; and a combi-plasma and chainsword. Specials are a meltagun and grav-gun. Heavies are a heavy bolter and a missile launcher. Scouts are bolt pistol and CCW.

troops finished

I have to race home after work and spray in what is left of the day light ! Been so ill not thought about the last part to complete the vow till today.

So glad I only vowed the 5 intercessors!!

I am starting to feel better and shall be back with a vengeance for the elite section.

Though my fingers may be covered in super glue, (and a little Blood from where I slipped once), my Vow is Completed!

{

Intercessors Completed Smaller

Primed Intercessors Smaller

Sergeants Smaller

}

The Sergeants all got swords from the DC box, (2 chain, 1 power), and everyone has at least 1 Blood Angel shoulder pad, from the Primaris Upgrade kit, or the same box of DC.
