old git
No pictures yet but I've been itching to start a home brew chapter using exclusively Primaris marines. Over the years I've had several established chapters as my armies (Death Spectres, Red Scorpions, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Grey Knights, World Eaters, Night Lords). I find myself in a hiatus. My primary army was Red Scorpions (around 8k points) but recently I've become somewhat uninspired by them, to such an extent that I've moved them on. I found myself looking at FWs Minotaurs and loving the Spartan aesthetic. However, I also found myself wanting to get away from an established chapter and get my creative juices flowing. I was doing some reading around the background and history of Sparta for ideas when I read about 'Eurotas'. Historically this was (and still is) a river where Sparta had their main settlement. I had the idea to combine the two and create my own chapter based on the look and imagery of Sparta but with my own background. Whereas the Minotaurs are (allegedly) the High Lords ass kickers and are still mainly standard marines, my own would be a newly established, Indomitus, chapter made up exclusively of Primaris marines. Enter the Sons of Eurotas. Doctor Perils
It's always good to see someone jump into the advancing storyline :) We'd love to see what you can share Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344879-home-brew-indomitus-founding-chapter/#findComment-5023032 Share on other sites
Conn Eremon
Glad to hear the new lore is having that kind of effect on you. There is still a lot about Primaris and the Ultima Founding that we don't really know, which can be good and bad. On one hand, you've got a lot more open space to fill in the blanks, and on the other hand there's less established lore to anchor yours off of. old git
Mainly it's excitement about being able to do pretty much what I like as far as background is concerned. With standard marines (not sure what else to refer to them as) you're always looking for geneseed origins. With Ultima founding chapters (thanks Brother Tyler), who's geneseed could well be blank slate templates, I think you're free to create what you like. To that end the Sons of Eurotas will be stealth attack specialists. Modern day elite forces tend to operate at night, secret, shadowy etc. I can't remember exact details but I recall a statement from somewhere saying that, since 1945, British military operations have all begun at night, so there is a precedence. (having taken part in a couple I can attest to this). That being the case, and with any colour you care to mention appearing as various shades of grey at night, my colour scheme will be an overall black with varying grey accent colours (chest eagle, shoulder/knee pads etc). Spot colours (eye lenses, chapter emblem) will probably be red. I have a couple of ideas about founding and homeworld etc but initially it'll be about getting models on the tabletop. This will be my main focus going forward. I'm reasonably confident that the Primaris range of models will be expanded over the next 18 months - 2 years (similar to AoS Eternals) so my interest will be maintained. To be honest, I'm excited about this project because it ticks all my hobby boxes. Writing a background and origins, new models and inventing a colour scheme, discovering how it works in game, unit synergy, competitiveness (I do go to tournies). I'll try and keep things updated but I can't promise as I usually get caught up in the excitement of just getting stuff done. Kelborn
Welcome aboard, brother. Curious of what you will present us. I'm currently working on an Ultima Founding chapter, as well. Maybe we can be of help for each other. ;) old git 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344879-home-brew-indomitus-founding-chapter/#findComment-5023183 Share on other sites
