WG has power armor and can bring a storm shield too. Can be a surprise if he rolls decent. Scouts aren't supposed to have that tyoe of survival trick.

 

However i do not believe he has access to camo cloaks

 

So sniper cloaks probably cant include him

 

I don't run scouts this is off memory from when i decided they are not worth adding to a wolf list.

 

I'm really peeved we can't even infiltrate deploy them. Cmon codex!

Actually, a camo cloak wouldn't be that advantageous for a WG in power armour since it only works when the unit is in cover. Even then, AP-3 weapons would bump the save to 4+, so I think Storm Shield is best on a power armoured warrior.

 

That being said, we can potentially bring 6 plasma shots (Combi plasma, plasma gun, 2 plasma pistols) up the backside of a table edge unit. For a little more than a hundred points, it's brings much more plasma than a 6 man Grey hunter squad with a plasma and combi plasma which is roughly the same points, a little more than hundred points.

 

But the lack of normal infiltration is really irksome as it denies us the ability to, well, DENY deepstriking with infiltration. this is the true value of vanilla scouts in my opinion, to push back the deepstrike bubble and deny the super fast assault units such as Blood Angels, Nids, Eldar and Raven Guard their first turn charges, or first turn in your face shooting.

What could be a deadly combination is something like two units of scouts kitted for full plasma and Harald Deathwolf outflanking with them so they re-roll their ones. Now you have a super charge plasma party in the opponents back zone and something they definitely have to deal with all for around 404 points (216 for the two scout squads with full plasma and 188 for Harald). If you add a storm shield on each WGPL then you go up to 414 which is not bad for the survivability bonus.

 

That is pretty tasty and if you wanted to be cheeky you could put Harald in the front so your opponent can target him. If they do not know his rules they will dump everything into his 2+ invulnerable against shooting (yeah, he is a real hard attempt at captain smashf***er this edition).
