Rapid Fire Lasgun Question

This may be a simple misunderstanding but I just want to clarify with the experts whilst I'm working on this project.

 

Now the humble Lasgun is rapid fire 1, 2 shots at 12 inches.

 

This can be doubled with orders to rapid fire 2 meaning 4 shots at 12 inches.

 

The part that confuses me however is if I use Armagedon traits it doubles the rapid fire of a weapon at 18 inches.

Now what I think this means is that rapid fire 1 weapons at 18 inches are are doubled to rapid fire 2 through the trait and then the order would double that that to rapid fire 4 at 18 inches which means 8 shots at 9 inches.

 

Now I'm not sure if I'm just getting this mixed up in order sequence or if the trait would make the order redundant but a rapid fire 4 Lasgun on basic guard seems a little broken to me.

Can someone please clarify this for me please?

All it allows is for the rapid fire range to be upped to 18. No extra shots at 9. So you get 2 shots at 18 rather than at 12. The type remains rapid fire 1

I can see how it could be confusing. However, it seems pretty clear that it was only meant to extend rapid fire range to 18" from 12". This confusion might be due to you reading what you wanted into it.

8 shots each at 9"? Who WOULDN'T want that? (Obviously anyone playing against the guard).
