Imperial Fists Legion - Terra Stands

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I have finally gotten into gear and have made serious progress in finishing my Imperial Fists. As the Heresy is progressing, I really want to be able to field at least 30k points of Fists for the defense of Terra.

So to start, here are 40 Veterans of the Legion.

At the moment I am using a Pride of the Legion list as I just love abusing that sweet, sweet Legion rule.

Also managed to finish up a Spartan.

I wanted to go for a dirty looking yellow. Something that looks like it is in mid-battle and taken a few hits.

Latest completions were a set of Praetors, one in Artificer, and another in Cataphracti.

Also as a bonus. My best bro has decided to collect the Iron Warriors for his heresy force. It's making some interesting games and we had one a couple of days back, here is the board plus what he was using.

Stay tuned if you like yellow. Up next is a Deredeo plus Templar Brethren.

Nice, did you say 30,000 points of Imperial Fists?

That's the goal. Currently sitting at about 4k usable for a few Pride, and Zone Mortalis lists.

Current progress is work on the Templars and the Deredeo. The Templars are prepped and ready for base coating and the Deredeo is finished with base colours.

Cheers all. Small update, started work on the Templars and have been experimenting on how I want the Shoulder Pads to look. I want to have the Templars yellow as I want them to match Sigismund when I get around to him, as well as any characters I add to the squad.

The Templars will have black and white iconography where present and I want the white to have a marble stone effect which will then have small scriptures on where I can get it on to. Looking to practice freehand more as I want to eventually do squad markings on the vets, plus personal tweaks to separate the lot.

Pretty happy how it turned out and should be pretty good with freehand at the end of this. Hopefully.

That is amazing. Mind sharing how you did it? Looks like a perfect technique for old, ragged cloth.

Thanks. The process is pretty simple

1 - Black Undercoat

2 - Ulthuan Grey, water it down depending how smooth you want it to look

3 - Shade with Nuln Oil

4 - Add white streaks

Also got more work done on the Templar Champion who will be rocking a Solarite Gauntlet. I have his head, shoulders, and combat shield fully done, and have just finished the black on his body. He should be finished tomorrow and once he is I can then start the other nine with swords.

Great looking yellow men

......and 30k as in 30k points of 30k yellow men? You are mad, sir!

Cheers. The idea behind the 30k points is to be able to use all of it in one giant force for truly massive games. At the moment I'm picking parts that I need to run games but eventually, it will come down to collecting more stuff that I won't be using all the time...It's a good excuse really as I'm still looking for justification for a Warlord and Mastodons.

Anyway, I got a squad of Autocannons started and finished up the legs and base for the Deredeo.

I have a Pride List I am looking to run this month and I hope to get it at least all yellowed for the board.

The list is

HQ

Praetor

Chaplain

Elites

10 Templar Brethren

Troops

5 Terminators with Vigil Pattern Storm Shields and Chain Fists - Phobos Land Raider

5 Terminators with Vigil Pattern Storm Shields and Chain Fists - Phobos Land Raider

10 Veterans with Boltguns - Rhino

10 Veterans with Boltguns - Rhino

10 Veterans with Boltguns - Rhino

Heavy Support

Spartan

Deredeo

To run it I just need the Phobos Land Raiders and they should be arriving this month at some point. In theory.

Beautiful works. Are the autocannons a legal option in-game?

Pretty sure Heavy Support squads have been able to take them since book 1. Unless there's something specific about the Imperial Fists that says they cant.

All legions can take them, they are Heavy Support Squads and can be equipped with a nice selection of weapons. Fists get an added bonus to theirs with legion rules and it makes Autocannons very appealing.

I have not got a paint update today but I do have some pics from a 3,000 point game I played with my best bro on Sunday.

He was using an Armoured Spearhead and I was using Pride of the Legion. Yes, that it is 3 Flare Shielded Spartans. Yes, they were annoying. No, but I managed to kill 2.

My Pride force. I have a stand-in Templar squad until I can finish up the new Templars I have. The Spartan was a Phobos for this game and the Autocannons were Lascannons. Other than that it's WYSIWYG.

20180311_200328.jpg

So this was a great moment when my Melta Bomb Templars popped a Spartan turn 1.

This is the same unit dying turn 1. Mistakes were made. Need to choose charges more carefully with them in future.

Hey all. I have not done much lately so that's my bad, looking to rectify that though with a small update for another squad that's ready for undercoating.

Lascannon Heavy Support Squad. I was really happy with how they performed in the last game I had, so I want to field a couple of squads in my future Pride lists. This is the first squad of 5, and it will definitely not be the last as I really like the idea of a 10 Lascannons with Tank Hunter.

There has been a yellowing. Have you felt it?

So apart from quoting Star Wars, I have finally yellowed the last of the infantry that I have. The process is kinda messy as you can see but it's worth it in the long run.

20180318_205612.jpg

The Yellowing is a simple but long winded the more I think about it. I undercoat in pieces to ensure I get a smooth coat of yellow in the correct areas, making it even more tedious.

1. Corax white the parts you want yellow

2. Yriel Yellow and Lahmian Medium with a 35/25 mix

3. Apply generously in your desired area.

4. A generous coat of Agrax EarthShade, but this is up to you depending on how bright you want it.

20180318_222025.jpg

In the end, it looks like this. I have done the helmets like this to separate their role on the field, as I will be looking over a sea of yellow at some point soon and it will hopefully be easier to pick out squads, and what type they are.

20180318_222716.jpg

I have also re-yellowed a squad of Terminators I have had since the last time I tried to collect fists. They have gone from the older mustard yellow to my current look.

20180318_222716.jpg

20180318_222734.jpg

That's it for now. I am going to be working more on the Support squad for now, as I want to get that on the table top for my next game in a few days. Also I will have some pics of an upcoming 12k game where it will be Imperial Fists and Thousand Sons vs. Iron Warriors and Word Bearers.

Loving the grit, liberal use of black and superb variety of armour marks.

A truly great Legion WIP!

Cheers dude.

I have done more work on the squad sergeants as I use them as a template for the squad and to see if the colour scheme truly works.

Here is the Heavy Support Sergeant. Now with Lascannon action.

Also finished up the Terminator Sergeant with Vigil Pattern Stormshield and Chainfist. I think its a big improvement over the last scheme I tried, and I am really looking forward to seeing a whole Terminator based army at some point.
