I'm pretty sure they are my dream T'au faction now. Fusion Blades. I mean... damn! Those are going to be so awesome! And the reroll 1s to wound within 6"! This sept is made for my ideal list.

T'au suits with flamers and fusion blades. :happy.:

Fusions Blades are 1 per Amy I think since they are a Signature System/Relic.

Since the Fusion Blades look like they will be a Commander only thing, I don't think they are anything to rejoice over for a whole army. I'm prepared to get excited about my Farsight Enclave suits being able to equip them if they are available army-wide, but the way they wrote the article about FSE (specifically putting the details about the Fusion Blades and Onager Gauntlet in the Commander section), I'm not banking on equipping any more than that. They are likely a Relic.

Lol you guys are fusion blade oprah.

How so? :confused:

Didn't Oprah give things to everyone, while it looks like Fusion Blades will only be available for one person?

Unfortunately so, but left to your devices, you’d be handing them out like Oprah hands out iPads :P

I wish I knew the reasoning behind them limiting the fun pieces of gear. It’s not like they’re gamebreaking haha

Edit: my spell correct did a naughty thing :O

I agree that Fusion Blades are very likely to be a relic and thus once per army and limited to Commanders.

However the fact alone that they exist and that the trait works so well for my Breacher teams is for me reason enough to probably include a small FSE detachment in my army. :P

Well if you get a bunch of Crisis within 6" via nerfed Homing Beacon and then use the +1 to-hit Stratagem (from the rumours) you'll have Crisis hitting on 3+ and re-rolling 1s on the to-wound roll. Give each of them three CIBs and that's with the overcharge profile:

27 S8 AP-1 D1d3 shots hitting on 3s = 18 hits = 17.5 wounds vs T4 = 8.75 dead Marines (on average as many dead Primaris Marines as well).

If you get a Markerlight on the target as well it would go up to 17.9 wounds = 9 dead Marines.

Against T7 Sv3+ vehicles it'd be 15.33 wounds = ~15 damage.

Against T8 Sv2+ vehicles it'd be 11.75 wounds = ~12 damage

That already sounds pretty close to the classic Farsight Bomb to me. :P

In comparison, non-Farsight Crisis bombs would do only 15 wounds vs T4 (17.5 with a Markerlight hit). Not sure if it's worth the efford to get within 6" on the drop to trigger the FSE trait tho but it's something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And who knows what kind of signature system we will get that might buff surrounding units. Tho that wouldn't be something FSE exclusive tho since the FSE signature system is the Fusion Blade as we already know.

Yeah I kinda want Breachers and Devilfish now. Still it's a risky tactic, because of the 4+ to hit.

Nah man, just load up on markerlights!

I’m going to try them with Vior’la and have them disembark 6”, advance x” and then fire their weapons without penalty!

I’d be worried about the Devilfish dying but you can put them behind cover and have them advance too and shoot as they have <Sept> and assault weapons.

Very Kauyon. Much silent hunter. Wow.

Edit: BTW does anyone know what happened to the ATT forum? Did they get DDOS’d?

I think they simply paid for a low specs server and got overwhelmed by people hitting F5. It's a small community but the rumour/leak thread there is probably the most active of such threads the T'au community has on the internet.

For anyone thinking similarly, it looks like we might be able to get five of the Eight in a single army. Not what I personally was hoping for, but it's better than half, so it's something.

Assuming the max 3 Commanders we're now allowed, as well as the Fusion Blades and Onager Gauntlet, you can run -

Farsight

Bravestorm (Iridium armour is an upgrade now too)

Brightsword

O'Vesa

Ob'lotai 9-0

If you're happy to run Torchstar as a Mon'at Crisis Suit, it goes up to 6/8. She's a Sub-Commander, so it makes sense that she could run as Shas'vre rather than a Shas'El or Shas'O.

Arra'kon only work if you swap out one of the Commanders above because he's supposed to be in an Enforcer suit, and as far as we know there's no Puretide Engram neurochip relic, so that means no Sha'vastos either.

There's every chance the make up of the Eight will have changed in the 200 years since Agrellan, but I highly doubt that we'll see that in the new Codex, unfortunately. But I still kinda hope I'm proven wrong.

There are no Monats in the rules anymore, however you can easily justify the other two as especially loyal pilots to Torchstar or even her bodyguards.

Give both of them a shield gen and two burst cannons and they'd make a great escort while not stealing her show of being the one with the thing for Flamer.

Torchstar as a non-commander is fine, as the lack of BS2+ doesn't affect her use of twin flamers.

I don't know if Commander Farsight is actually part of the Commander limit per detachment, seeing as he is a special character. People weren't obviously spamming but the customisable Commanders.

I think I have to correct my numbers now with this leak https://imgur.com/a/eV25Z

The +1 to-hit Stratagem for Crisis after the drop is only for the FSEs. That means, assuming hitting with a Makerlight, using the Stratagem and 3 Overcharging CIBs on 3 Crisis each:

vs Marines

FSE = 27 shots = 21 hits = 17.5 wounds = 8.75 damage (17.5 against Primaris) = 8-9 dead Marines

others = 27 shots = 15.75 hits = 13.125 wounds = 6.56 damage (13.125 against Primaris) = 6-7 dead Marines

vs T7 Sv3+

FSE = 14 wounds = 14 damage

others = 10.5 wounds = 10.5 damage

vs T8 Sv2+

FSE = 10.5 wounds = 7 damage

others = 7.875 wounds = 5.25 damage

Funnily enough they are slightly worse against vehicles than Fusion Blasters.

FSE with 3x3 Fusion Blaster

vs T7 Sv3+ = 9 shots = 7 hits = 4.67 wounds = 16.33 damage

vs T8 Sv2+ = 9 shots = 7 hits = 3.5 wounds = 10.21 damage

However a unit of 3 Crisis with 3 Fusion Blaster each costs 315p and a unit of 3 Crisis with 3 CIB each costs 288p. So

vs T7 Sv3+

CIB = 20.5 points per damage

FB = 19.3 points per damage

vs T8 Sv2+

CIB = 40.1 points per damage

FB = 30.9 points per damage

So my conclusion of all this is that the Crisis bomb for FSE is still a thing and the CIB considering its wide range of application is usually the better choice unless you want to kill something as tough as a Landraider.

Oh and in case someone is wondering, the Burst Cannons are sliiightly more points efficient thab CIBs against Marines and below but kill less so they're worse for a proper Mont'ka I'd say. ;)

Aww boo no crisis suit weapon point adjustments, but omg broadsides are going to be sweet now! I know what 3 detachments I'm using:

1- Vior'la Vanguard (put in the cold fusion and all the crisis/stealth suits in here)

2- Bork'an Spearhead (put the broadsides, riptide, ghostkeel and fire warriors here with fire blades and pathfinders)

3- FSE battalion (just put everything else here, farsight/brightsword, breachers, possibly stealth, just all your close range stuff!)

I shall have my own pseudo FSE the eight

I actually think Breacher are better with Vior'la due the advance move without penalty and the double shoot Stratagem, and that Crisis are better with FSE due the +1 to-hit Stratagem the turn they drop. ^^

I forgot about the +1 hit stratagem, and I was thinking breachers in fish would be more efficient, could charge the fish then pop breachers the following turn to open fire, although the merits of advancing breachers is hard to pass up with Vior'la

Oh of course Breacher in a fish are better. But you can advance when disembarking and after that it's unlikely you embark in a fish again (and you hopefully have enough threats going on that the opponent doesn't focus on your Breacher immediately). Also it's not always wise to charge the fish into the target. Like for example if there are a bunch of power weapons, force weapons or even thunderhammr/powerfist equivalents. I learned that the hard way lol

Mainly it's the double shooting Stratagem tho to be fair. ^^
