What's cracking nerds!!

Some of you may have seen my World Eater and Raven Guard forces in the past, however due to an upcoming move overseas, I decided to shrink my collection:

So... onto new things!

I've always wanted a Mech army, and confidently, I can fit it on a plane

Main issue being, I have a 3k event just 7 weeks away.... no biggie right!?

So, the way I have decided to approach this is the following:

1. At least 1 hours painting per week day (can be accumulated)

2. At least 30 minutes building per eve

3. Minimum 4 hours painting on weekends

4. All time lost to be made up on Tuesdays and Thursdays (days I kinda take off)

So far nothing to excited I'm afraid, just the usual washing and priming , however I will be updating every time i sit down and do something to keep me on track

Wish me luck!!

Yes guys 3k ordo reductor as follows:

Archmagos reductor- cyber familiar, 3x ocularis, p.blade, m.bomb, M.Array, Photon thruster, Djisn scaine, Augry scanner, rad nades

(sits with myrms at the back protecting the field and handing out sunder/+bs)

20 x tech thralls. R.o.p.t., armour

4 x 3 thallax (plasma & MB on all squads)

6 x ursurax with p.fist

2x krios venators

2x Medusa with p.o.t.m.s

3x Destructors with photon

Ordinatus sagittar

Real busy couple of days, so off to a great start with no building or painting And away from home all weekend...

FML

Looks solid. You probably want a Triaros for the Myrmidons (or a Bunker) so they don't get artillery sniped/killed by Deepstrikers. Will also help with re positioning your Reductor Lord where he needs to be.

I'd cut down the Thallax to 2 squads. They're honestly really mediocre, even in Matrix of Ruin.

Ursarax are ok, but as soon as you encounter S10 they melt. Hide them as best you can and try to punch tanks to death.

Yeah I'm taking the list to events so wanted more thallax for theme after all it is reductor, and I'm bringing an ordinatus.

I'm not running matrix as most events don't allow other force orgs.

The myrms are built for backfield and with the Magos who has the scanner means they should be fine against deep strikes

Also let's me buff the venators with +1bs

Sure probs not optimal, bit not to bothered about that. If I find I really struggle then can change it up after the first 2 events in May but they are all narrative so winning is not a big deal to me.

As you say, I think it's solid enough and can't really see the ordinatus being removed often

Still no paint, just bare resin progress today unfortunately

But it's my new favourite thing..

This model is just stunning

For those not seen this in person before, the little ursurax is there for comparison

So glad I went this route over a warhound

So, I finally did some stuff today!!

The plan for the mech has been to do a blue scheme inspired by the 40k Fires book shown the other year:

RXtvTeu.jpg

Just not a fan of the mech red and though this would be cool, so ages ago I did a test piece on a rhino:

Which I decided to go with and today, got a test thallax base colours complete:

Things always look a lot different under the hobby light but gave me a rough idea and got to play with the metalics.

This would be good enough for tabletop so i'm going to get the whole force up to around this standard and lacquer to protect. Afterwards, it would be a case of doing any finer details, the chipping, washing, and weather powders, before dulling it all back down with some satin varnish

I will add a glow to the rear pack pre-lacquer if I get the chance too.

With that, I then proceeded to get the blue down, it's basically 4 layers going from dark to light followed by nightshade & agrax:

Next up, brushing on the metallics (again, about 4 different types and layers) but I don't think it will take too long once I get into it

Total Time painting: 4 hours

Time left till event: 36 days

Mega slow progress...

Why is it when you need the time, you just can't get it!?!

Ursurax, built and primmed

Myrmidons with airbrushing down

And thallax done to game ready tabletop

Unfortunately, it's all a bit boring and the metallics are pretty basic for now

I'm hoping if I have time before the event to add some coppers, golds and some glow on the weapons, but the priority is to just get it tabletop ready for now. It's a shame the metallic look so dull as it all had to be hand done and took a while! Obviously, washes will help too when they eventually get done

I want to get all the infantry done over the next few days so I can get some ZM games in as need to learn what does what too!

Total Time painting: 10  hours

Time left till event: 28 days

Managed to get some more work done:

The ursurax are now done with metalics also and the ordinatus is primed!

Getting there, but going to be tight!!

Painting Time: 16 hours

Days left: 17

Personally I'm super bummed that none of these guys will be joining us for the ETL, but they look GREAT.

Might I inquire as to the method for your blue? It's really, really nice.

Also, do you have any fluff for your army? Are they Heresy-era Cyraxus or somewhere else?

No real fluff as of yet but want to do a little background at some point.

As for paints, I'll pop them up next time I have them out

Mixed bag the last couple of days...

So the krios started peeling off with my nail, so had to strip them both :-(

Even after soaking and scrubbing must of been release agent still on 1 - bummer

So what better way to park up than get stuck into a super heavy...
