Budget Wulfen conversion

A LONG time coming, but I finally got back into painting these. I finished the first one over a month ago, but never got around to posting pics. I am a mediocre painter and a worse photographer, but these are pretty good for my standards and I'm happy enough with the conversions to be proud of them despite my lack of painting skill.

My Wulfen Pack Leader with dual swords counting as Frost Claws:

I've been taking pics with my phone at a middle distance and cropping out everything but the model itself because that's the only way I know to get the file size small enough to upload. I'm not sure if my actual camera has a smaller file size but I'm reluctant to reduce the resolution on the phone pics as my phone is already taking pretty bad pictures. Is there a better way to get decent pictures down to the file size limitation for B&C?

GW has tips on how to take a picture

Here is one of my pictures uploaded to B&C using their file size restrictions and a sheet of white paper for a background as learned from GW

I think the detail is fine

I use my default photo editor (microsoft picture editor) to crop pictures and then RESIZE to a default setting (DOCUMENT LARGE)

B&C image hosting is free and I think it turns out ok

Good luck!

Cheaper wulfen you say? Try Puppetswar. The werewolf strike force is a promising looking kit and you get 5 models in the box our 20 models in the box. Or they also have a kit with 6 pairs of arms and another with 10 wolfman heads if you just want to convert your own. They also have a norsemen head sprue a Valhallan head sprue and a vampire head sprue if you don't like the werewolf heads.

One thing to watch out for, Puppets War heads are a lot smaller than the ones you get from GW, I made that mistake and bought a LOT of them and they are just way to small.

I too tried to build cheaper Wulfen. Tried to use eBay but cheap sources dried up quick.I think got in maybe 6 bucks cheaper. The only Wulfen parts I used were the arms. Torso and legs came from primaris reivers. Hammers and shields from WG terminators. Custom claws built from frost swords. Heads from Stormcrow space knights line. Haven't put on any paint (other than what some bits allready had) and some filing work is to be done.

Would they fit LOTR miniatures by any chance? I love the idea of using their desert heads on Gondorian figures as a border patrol force.

Hmmmmm, not sure.  I'll try and take some pics tonight to get some size comparisons - I don't have any LOTR figures, but will put some GW Space Marine heads for scale.

Here we go:

Heads

Heads 1 & 2 are Cossack Heads from Puppets War
Head 3 is from Shapeways
Head 4 is standard GW Space Wolf
Head 5 is new GW Primaris Space Wolf
Head 6 is Puppets War Spellcrow
Head 7 is a GW Marauder.

For me the Puppets War heads are too small for Space Marines

Hope that helps.
