How tall is Abaddon?

So I’ve started a project using predominantly the AoS Khorne stuff to make my CSM. They’re about the same scale as Primaris as I really consider those models true scale marines. So thinking on this, what sort of size would Abaddon be? I’ve been thinking of getting Archaon (if I can find him seperatletly) and converting him into Abaddon, but I’m not sure if he’d be too big. My other thought was the Varanguard riders. Any help from someone more knowledgeable would be appreciated.

As I explained above it’s all about trying to convert either Archaon (off his mount) into Abaddon but I’ve never seen the model in person and was wondering if he’d be too big. I’m very aware that the official model from GW is too small, which is a massive shame!

Well. I've felt for a while they mucked up the fluff a bit here.

They made primarchs WAY too tall imo. But then said that abaddon looked like a clone of horus, and even had a passage somewhere that the only way to distinguish horus and abaddon was by their wounds and scars... if so, then clearly abaddon would need to be the same size as horus. See the problem?

I'll have to check again when I get home but the book Black Legion or Talon of Horus kind of describes him in a normal size if I remember correctly. Something the main character was surprised about. I could be mis-remembering though. I'll look into it tonight if I have time.

In the fluff Abaddon has been described, particulary more of late, as BIG even for an Astartes. Hence the massive speculation that he is truly Horus' son not just a likeness!

Commonly converting Abaddon many people use a larger mini to start with. I used the Chaos Terminator Lord as a base...in fact D'rachnyen is the only part that's really Abaddon!

Still work in progress but getting there!

Yeah, in Talon of Horus they described that he was very big for an astartes.

Spoiler from that novel:

After the battle where Abaddon was wounded he was in a tank floating around where Khayon looked at him and wondered if he was truly a clone of Horus. He even asked Abaddon if he was Horus. They looked identical, which was common for legionaires while Horus looked truly like his gene-father, but just the size of Abaddon really drove the point on. This is paraphrasing here at best but that was one of my favorite parts of the story

Yes that was it. ^_^ Thank you!

Well, thanks for your help everyone. I guess now the search goes on for a separate Archaon!

There is a rumor that a new Abaddon model is releasing towards the end of 2018. Supposedly it is coming with Black Legion CSMs and Chosen. Though it is not confirmed yet.

That's "Little Horus" isn't it?

IIRC, he's a member of The Mournival.

you're close, but off the mark by a little bit. Little Horus looked uncannily like the actual Horus as far as facial appearance goes. Abaddon has always been described as being bigger than most astartes, an absolute genius tactician, a demigod of battle, and a charismatic leader like Horus was. That's where all of the similarities come from (in addition to how he also wears Terminator armor and uses Horus' talon). Anyway, Abaddon is described as being taller than Loken (a fairly big space marine), just about as tall as Tarik Torgaddon (a really tall space marine) and is considered even taller than Torgaddon if you factor in his topknot.

TL;DR: Abaddon should be taller than Khârn and Ahriman and just about as wide as Typhus.

Hope that helps.

I recommend using slaughter priest legs for sure. My CSM are primaris sized using cataphractii legs and torsos. For my terminator sorc I used slaughter priest legs because I heard that he was tall. Holy crap he's like a primarch and I love it. They'd make for a great Abbaddon.

I've heard the same chatter but with Angron, new berzerker kit, and Abaddon for Christmas, late 2018 release date. Obviously add salt to taste but I got this from someone that told me about new knight models, gold jetbikes, fish elves, and witch elves before I'd seen any of them mentioned. New knight rumour was over 2 months ago for example. Watch this space...

I am a bit surprised that undivided is coming before all 4 gods are out. It really looked like they were going to do TS, DG, WE, EC then onto undivided which now that I think of it would probably be black legion and MIGHT leave the others in limbo (IW, NL, WB, AL)
Looking through the internet last night and I’ve been struggling to find an Archaon. My next idea was to mix a slaughterpriest and a Varanguard rider, though I may wait until Sunday to see if we get any previews at Adeption. I would like my Abaddon to be taller than Typhus realistically.

Thirding the Slaughterpriest legs.

While I haven't used the Slaughterpiest to convert Abaddon, I did, however, use the Slaughterpriest with a Hackblade's legs on my Fabius Bile counts-as, based on the Primaris Chaplain.

Both Slaughterpriests have incredibly long legs, easily being taller than most terminators, and possibly as tall as a Primaris Marine.
