Transport Question

I have a question for making a detachment list.

 

For the transport. If the unit (e.g. jump pack, primaris) choice cannot embark on the transport (e.g. razorback)  then am I still allowed to have the transport as part of my detachment.

Yes.  So any slot filled in a Detachment chart opens up a Dedicated Transport slot on the same chart.  You can pick things that the unlocking unit cannot ride, as the Transport is no longer an upgrade for that unit but an empty slot on the chart to be filled with all the same rules as any other slot on your chart.

So I could legally take any number of Supreme Command detachments consisting of Techmarines and load the rest of my list with Razorbacks?

4 HQs would give you 2 Razors.

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. 4 HQ slots filled nets 4 DT slots allowed.

Its not one for each choice. But one for each other choice.

That means each choice other than a DT, not half of your choices.

Tyriks has it correct. The wording is that way to disallow only choosing Dedicated Transports - i.e you make take a DT for every non-DT choice in that detachment.

Eh. That's very poor wording.

 

The DT section is separate to the Detachment.

 

For each unit in the detachment you can take a DT would have been clearer.
