Blasters being buffed is just what they needed, D3 really wasn't that great especially compared to melta and the like. These kabal rules are honestly more than I could ask for, they're fluffy, they're not copy and paste and they all seem on par with each other. Pessimistic TrawlingCleaner is no more. I'm hopeful that the rest of the teases will follow suit

I was hoping for 3 kabal traits at best, 4 is pretty incredible and even more importantly they are pretty sweet. Black Heart seems like the one meh trait to me, since power from pain mainly buffs melee units it's not a great trait for the shooting oriented kabal units, but the other 3 traits are so good and fluffy I can't decide which one I'd like to use. Can't wait to see what else the codex has in store for us. 

Too early to say for sure, wracks are still overpriced pts wise compared to kabalite warriors/wyches, and their special weapon options are incredibly bad. If they get a pts decrease and/or get their special weapons improved though then I'll definetly grab some, though really all I probably need is a pts decrease as I intend on likely using them as objective holders, t5 +4 invul with the prophets of flesh trait is solid. Plus the prophets of flesh also have a sweet warlord trait, you take that trait and you've already paid of the cp you spent to get 3 warlord traits, plus the chance to get an extra 1-2 more. 

 

Overall though more solid news for DE. None of those traits are bad, I definetly have a solid preference for prophets of flesh but the other two are good. 

I was already using the 'one of each' HQ approach, so I'll likely run with it for the +4 CP 'triple patrol' just to see how everything ticks. -1 AP on Wracks makes them a solid forward/flank objective threat, probably in a Raider.

 

I've had success in index matches using 3xScourges and 2xMandrakes plus a mid-size Kabalite/Court/Grots skimmer force... so d6 W on blasters is just what the doctor ordered ; )

 

The main disappointments have been around Wyches; I want to be able to confidently use a Webway strike for 20 of them, but they definitely need... something (I'd be fine with better/more numerous wych weapons).

 

I guess we'll find out tomorrow what the Arena units will look like in terms of special sauce. Looking forward to that...

I'm reading some pretty good abilities, so as long as the point values line up DE sound like a capable force :tu: The ability to work the different factions together is one I like the more I think about it - just need to be able to get some of the coven models that don't also inflict lots of pain on my wallet...

Yeah I'm in the same boat, it sucks that wraiths are twice the price money wise of wyches/warriors, but I feel like I at least need to get 10 wracks and a heamonculus to round out my force. Plus with that +d3 command points trait for the prophets of flesh, it's seems like it will just be too good to pass up on a small coven detachment. Whether I get around to adding talos/grotesques depends on if they get improved or not.

Well good news, wyches got a solid improvement as outlined in the article for today. Down to 8pts/m, and with +1 attack. Stack on the wych traits, with the +1 strength/ignore moral one looking like the best one, and wyches are very solid. My hope though is that reavers/hellions get improved, especially reavers since they are way overpriced right now. If they go down in pts the advance+charge cult trait is going to be awesome on them, letting them go 24" then charging is sweet.

I wonder where Scourges and Mandrakes are going to end up... will they still be left out of the Covens/Kabals/Cults special rules? Having having Scourges w/ 24" range blasters would be a bit much, and they won't get too much benefit out of any of the other Obsessions I'm interested in. I'm a little concerned that the proliferation of potential Warlord traits are going to mean that we'll still lack any 'personal transportation' options for our HQs.

 

And you're quite right about Reavers and Hellions... Getting more movement and charge range on them could end up be 'gilding the lily' to me at a certain point... I think +1 S in addition to the Drugs will make both units quite a bit more interesting as assault units IMO. I love the look of Hellions, and almost ended up with a big ol' flock of them before Baron Sathonyx went MIA... But there are also quite a few copies of Gangs that local places are offering at really fantastic prices ; )

I'm really excited about a lot of what we've seen in the previews.

 

I still need to know what they've done to haywire blasters, heat lances, hex rifles, and the Talos.

 

I need to know other things too, but that's at the top of the list.

 

I could see glassing somebody with a hex rifle being a strategem. I'm prepared for disappointment, and not everything in the previews has been good (I'm looking at you, Crucible of Malediction), but it's entirely possible that they've fixed hex rifles. I need to know!

Yeah the crucible is garbage now. It wasn't great in its previous form, but at least it was free. But now you need to spend 2 cp for a stratagem that has a 50% chance of doing say a mortal wound or two to nearby psykers? Crap, not even going to kill any psykers except rather low level ones. It should have been d6 mortal wounds or automatically works, no need to roll a  +4. 

 

I am interested to see the changes to all those weapons/units, couple others as well. Definitely want to see what's changed with the coven ranged weapons since I just ordered 10 wracks. I'm hoping hellions got some sort of improvement, really want to pick some of them up. Curious to see how many pts reavers went down by and if it's enough. Also our characters, succubus is fine as is I think but the archon and maybe the haemonculus could see a little improvement. Finger crossed that someone will review the codex over the weekend and give us a full preview of the dex.
