Units you never use

In terms of models I actually own:

- Conscripts (even when they were good). I like my infantry to actually comprise most of my offensive capability, rather than just being meat-shields. Also, my movement phase takes long enough already.

- Veterans. I don't see the point when Scions exist. Maybe if Veterans hadn't got the same price-hike on their weapons as a unit that already exceeds them in almost every way. Or if they were troops.

- Chimeras. If I put Infantry in them, then it doesn't seem worth it. If I put Veterans or such in them, then I just end up thinking I'd be better off with Scions. Doesn't help that they're bloody expensive to start with, and if you want flamer weapons (because their guns can't hit the broad side of a barn door) then they cost even more.

- Astropaths. I don't see the point after they doubled in price.

- Commissars. Thanks, but I think I'll pass on paying points to make my infantry more vulnerable to morale.

- Special Characters (I own Yarrick, Straken and Harker). Just not my thing.

- Tank Commanders. My Leman Russes tend to die very quickly, even with defensive buffs, so I'm not keen on the idea of using a more expensive one with no improvements in defence.

Is anyone using Eradicators? Losing the 2+ to wound MEQs stings but with the prevelance of cover camping objective holders it seems like it still has a place, but is rarely seen

Well, a Battle Cannon has S8 and twice the range (same AP, shots and damage).

Against anything other than guardsmen in cover, I believe the extra strength will be at least as useful (if not more so) than the extra pip of AP.

Against anything out of cover, the Battle Cannon is going to be as good or better.

Against vehicles and monsters the Battle Cannon is going to be better.

And the Battle Cannon is actually the cheaper option (only by a few points, but still).

Basically, the Eradicator Nova Cannon gives up far too much for its Ignores Cover rule - which was useful when cover could be a 2++ save, but far less so when it just amounts to a conditional pip of AP.
