So how exactly does the Emperor eat 10,000 souls a day?

With mustard...I mean...how else could he stay the Golden Emperor of Mankind? But I bet he still can't see why kids...I'll see myself out before I finsih that one.

Also, It is of note shows how MASSIVE the human population is. Psykers are just a fraction of it yet there is enough to sustain 10k a day. 10 MILLION years, that's 3650000 a year. Not accounting for leap years, this means he has consumed over 36,500,000,000,000 souls...that went into quadrillions...Soooooo...he has had a fair few by the time we roll around. Yet this is considered minor for the human race which means that on top of the billions that die for the emperor each day, goes to show that the human race really does two things well...War...and well...you know...

It's only ten thousand years. Still, comes out to 36.5 billion Psykers over the years, so the point still stands.

I feel like people are confusing two distinct and separate things:

The Astropaths help power the choir that generates - with the Emperor's help - the primary navigation beacon for Imperial fleets. The Choir is about 10,000, made up of trained and sanctioned psykers that IIRC are also soul-bonded with the Emperor (often leaving them blind and lacking other physical senses). The strain of non-stop psychic projection burns out an individual astropath in a matter of months.

The culling of psykers to feed the Emperor - said to require about 1000 a day to sustain him - is separate from the choir. The Emperor does not feed off the astropaths. The black ships that travel the Imperium collect all psykers on a planet and return to Terra. Psykers deemed capable of training are assessed and sent along the path best suited to their skills (e.g. astropath, sanctioned IG psyker, etc.). Psykers deemed incapable of controlling their abilities are designated for sacrifice to the Emperor.

Is it really? Huh.

Think you have that the wrong way round, no? I thought the Imperial palace was in Himalazia?

The Imperial palace covers all of Eurasia, so it is technically in the Himalayas too. The chamber of the Astronomicon is under Everest. There is a map in a rule book indicating the Golden Throne is in Britain, and I'm pretty confident Nottingham.

That isn’t the case anymore. The Golden Throne is in the Himalayas, because at the time of the Heresy the Palace and surrounding urban sprawl definitely had borders that led into empty wilderness in what was formerly China, India, and SE Asia. By 40k the entire planet has become an ecumenopolis, but the location of the Imperial Dungeoun wouldn’t have changed.

The Palace being in Nottingham is from RT or 2nd Edition days, and was wriiten as a bit of a joke because thays where the company is based. It was retconned completely to the aforementioned lore of the Himalayas, and specifically centered on Everest.

Personally, my theory on why Everest is because it's the highest point on the surface of the Earth. Emps knew he needed the Mechanicum, which was headquarters at Olympus Mons, the highest point on Mars. He needed the Martian Empire to see the Terrestrial empire as equals to achieve a true unification of the two planets, so seeking common themes was important.
