Blasphem
Hello guys ! I have an question about the Flakk Missile stratagem. How much damages does this exacly deal ? I would say it deal only d3 mortal wounds w/o needing to make a wound roll INSTEAD of d6 «normal wounds» wich need a wound roll and may be ignored by saves. But I have read on 1d4chan that «since it doesnt says it replace the normal shoot you still get the regular Krak hit.» That means d6 W + d3 mortal w/o needs of wound roll? Or you still need to wound for the regular attack? Or the d3 mortal replace the normal damages? What do you think about it? (Sorry if this question allready got a topic but I don't find any complete answer) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/345711-q-flakk-missile-stratagem-damages/ Share on other sites
CCE1981
If you read the rule it specifically states the missile launcher fires only once that phase AND only does 1d3 mortal wounds. Dark_Jober
When you use the Stratagem you're replacing the normal shot and effects with the provide rules/effects in the text. You could think it is like using special ammo, flakk missile instead of frag/krak ones. So it can only be shot against models with Fly and it has special rules like +1 to hit and instead of doing normal damage, it is D3 mortal wounds. Imagine that profile as a third ammo for the missile launcher. Captain Idaho
Don't follow too 4Chan too closely. Their 8th edition Tactica for Space Marines, for example, says Psychic Scourge is a weaker power than Smite which is nonesense. They missed off crucial information that you can select your target, including picking out a character which is worth it's weight in gold. But when I updated their page they removed it without a word. It's a crucial difference they just missed it out. So yes, use it as a guide and all but come to the B&C for the full information ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/345711-q-flakk-missile-stratagem-damages/#findComment-5043791 Share on other sites
Claws and Effect
1d4chan can be amusing, but a lot of the rules interpretations in their Tactics section are headscratchers at best. Especially where Strategems are concerned. Flakk is a great Strategem for units like Magnus, Mortarion, and Flyrants that are otherwise difficult to hurt. Don't forget that you can use it on ANY unit with the Fly keyword. Jump pack characters and Tau battlesuits included.... Also, devastators can use an Armorium Cherub and fire it again whilst under the effect of the Stratagem as per the FAQ.
