major higgins
On the imperial planet of Kundra V, chaos forces recently strike hard. Imperium try to held the enemy at bay till the resources of the principal industrial complex were shipped away. In the sector Omega a force of Iron Warriors moved towards the ruins of an Imperial complex. The caledonians moved to the front line to engage the traitors... They deployed their main force occuping the old trench system and the ruins of an old complex. 1st Turn Caledonian won the roll and started to move sentinels onwards to keep the enemy terminators away from thier front line. The fire from Russes, Heavy Weapons and Basilisks destroyed the Khorne bloodslaughter and two of the C-bean rapiers. Three hades breaching drill with thier veterans teams and a squad of Rough riders stayed in reserve. The Demon Prince moved forward and two squad of six terminators deep stroke close as they can to the enemy lines. The havocs take position and a Vindicator Lasdetroyer rolled forward. With time warp the prince moved again, right in the middle of the Caledonian's line. A couple of shot from it vaporized the Knight Commander. The single Rapier destroyed one heavy weapon squad and another was obliterated by havocs with missile. The lascannon in the centre strip 8 hull points from the executioner. Then the prince charged and vaporized the command squad. One terminators squad succeded in thier charge obliterating a 10 men squad, but the last terminators squad failed to charge, even with the khorne banner re-roll. 2nd Turn Two of the Hades were request in the middle of their line, to offer assistance against the chaos breacktrough. The Rough Riders flank the Havocs with missiles. Time for orders: and with a lot of "Take Aim" and using Orvalap filds of fire, the Caledonians killed the Demon, destroyed one Vindicators and three terminators per squad. The Hades had no more target, but the Rough Rider charged the Havocs killing some of them. Sentinels engaged a squad of terminators and the other havocs in the middle. Not much damage expected here, but enough to hold the firsts and block for a turn the others. Rhinos advanced and 10 men diembarked and obliterate the Rough Riders. Terminators advance and charge: They killed some guardsmen, nothing of decisive. Only the other Vindicator destroyed the executioner. 3 & 4th Turns Caledonians obliterates the terminators and had a close grip on the battle: the traitor had only two squad of 10 Heretic Astartes left, and they are pretty outnumbered and outgunned. In a couple of turn they were obliterated by fire (with a moment of shining suces for the filed officer who killed one marine in duel) The Hades Drills move close to the enemy lines and with the support of veterans and long range fire they clear almost all the enemy in thei deployment. Iron Warriors did what they can, traying to kill as muach enemy as possible. But their number droped quickly and at the end of turn 4 they had a single havoc in the ruin on the right, the warpsmith with a couple of hades dangerously close and the Psyker and the Warsmith in the centre. 5th Turn The two hades charged and killed the Warpsmith and with all the infantry dead the basilisks pound to death the psyker too. The single havoc fail to hit the basilisk and the Warsmith try to put enough distance between himself and the 2 hades, then he rolled for the end and the battle finished with a result of 15 to 13 for the Caledonians. A result which didn't put justice to the Caledonians which ruled the game since the begins: only an havoc and the lord separed the IW to the fate of being tabled, anyway a solid victory for the Caledonians. Some conclusion: I will return to Valhallan Doctrine, because most of the time I moved my unit and do not benefit from the re-roll, on the other hands I really suffer on morale and for Vehicles crippled. A thing that Valhalla look with dispite. Rough Riders are very, very poor in their job, maybe I can transform a couple of squad of infantry in veterans and load them with plasma... need to make some math...
