Hellblaster & Inceptor models are garbage

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else noticed how poorly designed the Hellblaster and Inceptor models are in terms of them poorly fitting together and being difficult to build well?

Geez, I'm working on a Hellblaster ten man box at the moment and two out of the five basic poses/builds fit poorly both the chest pieces and legs! And it may be three out of the five to be honest?

The Death Guard models are well done and are fairly easy to build, but some of these Primaris models are pure garbage in terms of being well designed and well-fitting! Don't even get me started on the flyer stand & stem for the Inceptors ...

The Getting started boxes all come with unique Primaris and DG models that are more limited in their parts and are made to be easier to build (for those new to the hobby).

Yes, I'm doing it right. They simply are poor designs IMO. On the contrary, the Intercessor boxes are pretty well done!

I have not built any of the inceptors, but the 2 squads of hellblasters that I built with the assault plasmas were easy to put together and rather well designed. The only 'issue' spot that I had was ensuring the barrel pieces were completely trimmed of flash, and that wasn't actually difficult.

I’ve built the starter ones and the stand alone boxes and have had no problems. I was even able to mix and match pieces between them with only minor clipping and filing (I put plasma inceptor arms on the starter box inceptor bodies).

That said, specific legs go with specific torsos (like a lot of their recent models). Are you sure you’re matching the correct numbered pieces?

IMO the hellblaster kits are alright, but what's really good about them is that they're fully customizable. What deserves hate is the Gravis kits, as there's no customization to be had with their poses unless you want to start sawing very chunky marine models apart. It's disappointing, especially with their hefty pricetag.

I’m just building my Hellblasters myself and the legs look like they’re going to be an adventure? Kind of glad I decided to go with RF over Heavy plasma.

I’m curious ... has anyone tried mixing Intercessor and Hellblaster arms and weapons on the opposite numbers bodies? I thought if it was possible it might add a tad more versatility in poses. It looks like it “should” work but thought I’d ask if anyone had already tried it.

I've built both kits with no issues.

What exactly is the issue?

Some of the torso pieces were off, didn't fit properly and left gaps ... those same ones also the legs didn't line up and fit right with the base of the torso where they go. Three out of the first five I made. I'm getting ready to build the second five so we will see if the trend continues with this box?

Could he have matched the wrong number pieces together? Joke! I Joke!

It seems to be a new way of making kits which I get, but I'm not sure I like. I used to get all the parts for Guard Infantry off the sprue, clean them up then just pick whatever leg, torso, head combo I wanted. The only parts that needed to match were the weapon arm and supporting arm. The older kits are really very flexible indeed.

I was getting annoyed with a more modern Genestealer kit because only certain legs go with certain torsos. It does say it in the instructions but I was surprised by a slight lack of flexibility.

The newer kits are so fantastic that it's a small price to pay, but it can still catch veteran modellers out if they are men and therefore throw the instructions straight in the bin...
