Aothaine
Hey everyone, I apologize for the questions, I should be getting my codex this upcoming weekend. But I was curious to know what you guys thought about some ideas I had. So I really like the T'au. But I would want to build them mainly with pathfinders, fire warriors, transports and tanks. I don't really like the bigger suits. Would it be possible to build a Friendly-Competitive list without the big suits? I don't mind having the smaller suits but initially I would want to stay clear of the Stormsurge and other giant suits. Not sure about the new points either. Could 4-6 max sized Fire Warrior squads screened by 1-2 Kroot squads be enough defense for 3-5 T'au Tanks? Would I have enough points left for a few marker lights and 1-3 squads of pathfinders in Devilfish? Thanks in advance! TZ20
It's funny you mention that, there was an article on the Warhammer Community website that will give you exactly what you need https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/03/13/tau-empire-tactica-part-1gw-homepage-post-4/ https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/03/16/tau-empire-tactica-part-2gw-homepage-post-4/ I don't know about the points cost, but it does make for an interesting read and worth looking at if you're interested in an army. Amazing. This is exactly what I was thinking about making. I wasn't considering the fortifications yet though. I was thinking about running tanks. Thanks a bunch! The Pounder
I can’t say how competitive the list will be but I’m doing the same thing. I absolutely love the T’au tanks and want to build an army around them. The only bit of advice I can give you is that if you want to run a tank heavy list take Longstrike. He counts as one of your HQ choices and buffs any Hammerheads nearby! There are some very knowledgable members on the forum, they’ll probably be able to help you more. Panzer
You can definitely make a semi competetive list with those units. T'au Sept in general is good due the Stratagem and Tenet but also gives access to Longstrike which buffs your Hammerheads a lot. Bork'an Sept has a nice combo with Strike Teams, Pulse Accelerator Drones and Fireblade for 42“ Pulse Rifles with 3 shots at Rapid fire range. Vior'la is pretty neat for Breacher Teams in a Devilfish. ~3.5“ more range without penalty (that almost doubles the best profile) and a Stratagem that lets some of your infantry shoot twice at the nearest target. The FSE Tenet is good for Breacher as well, however not as easy to use as the stuff above and the main point about FSE is the Crisis Stratagem, really. Depending on how static you want your gunline (Hammerhead main weapons are Heavy anyway) the Dal'yth Tenet could be interesting as well for some Sv2+ tanks in the open.
