CCB and "Character" rule...

Also looks like you can give it a Lightning Field for a 4+ invuln? Between character targeting, T6, 8 wounds, 3+/4++, Quantum Shielding and Living Metal, I'd pretty much say that makes it unkillable :-)

Additionally, it can play, I believe, the 1 CP stratagem to res itself on a 4+.

That's frekkin' insane.

When it dawned on me that my Mephrit CCB can have...

Mephrit Dynastic Code:

+1 to AP in Shooting phase when your weapons are within half range.

Warlord Trait:

Merciless Tyrant: add 6" to max range of all Assault Weapons fired by your WL. Also, your WL can fire Assault weapons at enemy Characters even if they are not the closest enemy model.

Relic:

The Voltaic Staff

18" Assault 3 S6 AP-3 D:2; AP-4 <9"

Melee S5 AP-2 D:1

Each time you make a wound roll of 6+ for this weapon in the Shooting phase, the target suffers a mortal wound in addition to any other damage.

Stratagem:

Talent for Annihilation 1CP

Each time you make an unmodified hit roll of 6 for a model in the Shooting phase, you can make one additional hit roll for that model with the same weapon against the same target. These additional hits do not themselves generate additional hits.

Solar Pulse 1CP

Enemy unit being targeted does not receive benefits of cover.

Catacomb Command Barge

12" Move

BS2+ , +1 To Hit w/ MWBD

Voltaic Staff = 18" Assault 3 S6 AP-3 D:2; AP-4 <9"; 6's To Wound = MW

Tesla Cannon= 30" Assault 3 S6 AP0 D:1, 6's To Hit = 3 Hits; AP-1 at 15"

....and can not be targeted in return if there is a unit (hello, T5 3W 3++ Wraiths!) in between, but has Quantum Shield and Living Metal if it does....

...that makes one HECK of an assassin!

Yep I fancy having a CCB character killer in my expanded army, die Warp users!

I already have started on this model but I don't seem myself using those stratagems on my Overlord but I do see the reason. I'm interested in what I'm going to do with my second CCB or a Destroyer lord.

Having a second command wave and a chaff assault blocker with a lightning field could be good.

I probably won't use either of those Strategems all the time--especially since CP seems SO hard to get for 'Crons--but I wanted to include them as options. Tools in the belt...

Why do you say that, out of curiosity? We actually have a pretty easy time of it filling up a Brigade.

Not saying you'd WANT to take this but...

227 (HQ / Overlord, Lord, Cryptek)

6x85=510 (troop / immortals)

3x95=285 (elites / deathmarks)

3x39=117 (fast / scarabs)

3x57=171 (heavy / destroyers)

We can fill out a brigade for 1,310.

Yea, but the issue is look at how incredibly brittle that army is, not even accounting for the fact that Necrons typically want large unit sizes to get the most out of RP.

690/2000pts is not a lot of room for adding things like Stalkers or Doomsday or C'Tan....even without upgrading squad sizes on any of those units.

My issue is I prioritize my CP to key units and strategic situations. Also very much subject to the type of army you run.

Like what Indefragable pointed out "Stalkers or Doomsday or C'Tan" I need to save some CP for a re-roll in the movement and shooting phase so incase I roll a 1 on the multiple random dice rolls. If my army is running a portal/beam transport unit like a scythe or a monolith, I will want want CP for extra mobility and Talent for Annihilation for my 20 man rapid firing warriors that my CCB moved 12 and maybe advanced to get the 12" range of the command wave. Destroyers look outstanding now with the change to the gauss cannon so spending 1CP for the few few turns on the their stratagem is going to be a must.

The sniper Meph CCB seems solid without stratagems but as others have pointed out you might have some extra and it could be used.

The interesting thing about that list is I don't ever see myself fielding Deathmarks in their current form when we have so many good options. Again it goes for me what can CP do for my army vs how I can build an army around my CP and stratagems. I did do that for my Iron Warriors to make a themed army for them but I don't see that working for my Necrons.

I like the Mephrit CCB idea. I was thinking of a Nephrekh CCB with the Lightning Field relic:

Nephrekh WL Trait granting -1 to hit your Warlord, 4++ invulnerable save, quantum shielding, Cryptek with Canoptek Cloak there for healing, and on a 4+ at the beginning of CC gives enemy units within 1” a mortal wound. And if it dies, resurrect it with Reanimation Protocols Strategem.

I like Deathmarks as DS interception. I play a lot of guard and marines, so when a unit of Scions comes in planting the Deathmarks so the tempestor prime can't join is helpful, and killing one or two before they shoot is nice too. With drop pods the Deathmarks can force people to disembark on the wrong side by coming in 9" away from the pod. Actually if you have 2 or 3 5 man squads you can encircle the pod so the unit inside can't disembark and are auto killed, if you have room for the deathmarks.

Also keep in mind for that brigade that you don't need to spend 285 on deathmarks and add stalkers and whatnot. Deathmarks are just the cheapest elite slot (same with scarabs and heavy destroyers).

Due to this advice, I've now decided to increase my number of Deathmarks from 5 to 10. I could probably do more though it would involve conversions and I doubt I've enough spare Warriors.

So have the FAQ'd the Ghost Ark into not being able to transport the CCB yet? Or is it a :cuss interpretation that it could even be done?

Where did that idea even come from? The Ghost Ark entry specifically states that it can only carry infantry, whoever these :cuss people are I'd find somewhere else to check out tactics :lol:

People were saying you could transport a Catacomb Command Barge inside a Ghost Ark?

:huh.:

It's something I think I saw mentioned on reddit & maybe Dakka, the poster encountered someone that thought the CCB is a character & the Ghost Ark can transport characters, therefor multiple CCBs can hitch a ride in a Ghost Ark regardless of the fact that it's also a bulky vehicle.
