Making better Khorne Berserkers

Recommended Posts

This is going to be my first real attempt at conversions. My current goal is to create an Exalted Champion and 10 Berzerkers with chain axes & chain swords. The plan is to make 30k style World Eaters with MKIII armor.

I currently have the MKIII space marine pack that comes with 10 chain swords meant to be worn around the waist.

As well as the actual Khorne Berzerker box that comes with 6 chain axes and 6 chain swords.

I am attempting to model the bolter hands to hold the waist chain swords as they fit into the hand nicely but I haven't figured out a way to make the arm look natural.

If any one has an suggestions for this I am open to any ideas. I am willing to buy another box of something if needed. I also have a decent amount of green-stuff, but I am not very experienced in using it.

Also if you guys have any Berserker conversions to share I'd love to see them.

I've used the Berzerker arms on MkIII, and the chunkiness doesn't look terrible. I think to get arms in the right position for the close combat weapons, you have a few options, but most will give you non MkIII arms. The easy options off the top of my head would be:

Try to source the sergeant arms from 10 more MkIII kits, and use just the hands from other arms to hold the ccws.

Source complete close combat arms from other power armor kits which will be in the right poses, but largely other armor marks. Suitable kits could be the chaos marine kit or any of the numerous loyalist assault type marine kits.

Model them holding the axes, and use the swords on their hip as designed on some models. It'll still be wysiwyg.

If these are 40k Berzerkers, you could play with it a bit and model them so they're not all in fully complete MkIII. The Kharne bare arm look can work with some models using any buff human kit like goliaths or chaos Marauder type things.

Seconded the above.

I also happen to think the original torsos on the old Khorne Berserker kit look pretty cool and have aged well. I used those and the shoulder pads on the originals back in 3.5/4th edition and liked the results when combined with the CSM box. Even better now that you can use the Mk VI and Mk III boxes in conjunction. If I had all the funds in the world, I'd do that, plus with the ones here.

I also am a fan of the Rampager kits and a few of the SoH torsos for Berserkers as well.
