TempestBlade
Anyone thinking about switching the heads and using the new Namarti Thralls as Incubi? I do like the Incubi model but I hate resin so much. Maybe take the weapons and legs and mod the rest. Ideas? Lord Asvaldir
Would it kinda fit? Yeah I suppose, but those guys really don't fit for incubi. Incubi are supposed to be the one dark eldar unit that's fully armored in a full suit of power level quality armor, while those guys are armored only from the waist down. I like the deepkin models but I wouldn't use those guys as incubi. I do also really want incubi but hate finecast. May just settle for mandrakes since with less intricate details on those models, no really fine armor details I think I can handle them being finecast. Wolf Guard Dan
Namarti Thralls are going to be a great kit for conversions. I plan on using the Namarti as Wracks with some conversion work. I can see them working as Incubi as well. Some people have said they will use them for mandrakes as well. A lot of the Deepkin range may be usable for us for conversions. I have seen people converting Incubi using the Executioners kit from AoS. My friend did a kitbash of Wyches and Executioners and the Incubi turned out really dynamic. Lord Asvaldir
Executioners would definetly be a better fit for incubi, fully armored models and also armed with two handed swords that can make a solid stand in for klaives. TempestBlade
Executioners are cool looking but very boring. All standing there with no dynamic movement. Maybe the legs and arms of the Namarti Thralls and the armor of the executioners? Lord Asvaldir
Probably can't figure out if that will work until we see the sprues for the Namarti Thralls, but that's definetly a possibility. Slips
I see the Namarti Thralls, especially with their forehead runes, as good Mandrake Substitutes. Executioners are indeed very static. Shame. Maybe the Idoneth will have other options open up to us like the Daughters of Khaine do. Halandaar
I don't mind static for the Executioners, for me the issue is more that they just don't share any imagery with the Drukhari range which will make them stand out like a sore thumb. Using the two-handers on Kabalie Warrior bodies would soften the blow. Agree on the Thralls as Mandrakes though, because although they too share the issue of lacking any connection to the wider range, that's also true fr the "official" Mandrake models, so is less jarring. Vel'Cona
I love the Incubi models too much to proxy them, but I'd agree finding alternatives is important since we don't want to support Finecost. It's the same reason I don't have any Mandrakes at the moment, to my chagrin :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346059-alternative-incubi/#findComment-5052304 Share on other sites
Withershadow
I am going to use these for Mandrakes. Just need to find someone to take the female ones off my hands. Lord_Caerolion
There are the Sisters of Silence models, that could look good with alternate heads/swords used. I do agree the Namarti are a little under-armoured to look convincing as Incubi. Mandrakes I could definitely see, even the female ones, as we don't really have anything indicating that the Mandrakes are male-only, just a lack of female models. Withershadow
They are just too soft looking to be swinging those giant meat cleavers. Also not fond of their extended armor, too dainty for Shadow Demons. I may do Tree Revenants instead, gotta see be sprues in the flesh. shandwen
Perhaps Thrall legs and the Eel-riders torsos and helms can be used to make some incubi? Well have to wait to see the sprues tho. TempestBlade
Maybe the Thralls will be better suited for mandrakes. Any lore about them just being male and not female? I know they are called MANdrakes... lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346059-alternative-incubi/#findComment-5054235 Share on other sites
Rhivan
Executioners are fantastic for Incubi. Especially if you are willing to convert a little. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346059-alternative-incubi/#findComment-5055714 Share on other sites
TrawlingCleaner
I'm going to be converting up some melusi from the daughters of khaine stuff. To be honest they don't really need much, their glaives already look ace and I'll convert the klaivex be a bit more double ended Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346059-alternative-incubi/#findComment-5058512 Share on other sites
micahwc
I'm thinking I'll get some thralls for mandrakes like mentioned above. I think if we painted them with dark skin and added green runes they would look pretty similar to the mandrakes. Lord_Caerolion
Damn, you stole my idea for Wracks! :p Only difference is I'll be using the Wrack arms for them, rather than the spear/halberds. TrawlingCleaner
Damn, you stole my idea for Wracks! :p Only difference is I'll be using the Wrack arms for them, rather than the spear/halberds. They're really nice models to work with, they'd make great wracks, probably a bit too small for grotesques Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346059-alternative-incubi/#findComment-5059176 Share on other sites
Lord_Caerolion
I know, I've already given my Haemonculus the arms holding the heart and hunting-drake, and the champion mask-head. Nothing but the best for the Coven of the Dragon Ascendant. I'm considering getting the Cauldron of Khaine to have my second Haemonculus as the Medusae, being carried around in the cauldron, just painting the figure that holds it up as a flesh-crafted being rather than a statue. Captain Coolpants
I think these have the potential to make a few units. Definitely great incubi. Or mandrakes with some work. Or wracks. Orrrr amazing melevolent band models for corsairs with no conversions (if they ever become relevant again). https://www.ragingheroes.com/products/flesh-eaters-CGTR-LE-F Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346059-alternative-incubi/#findComment-5059385 Share on other sites
Lord Asvaldir
I could see some people liking those models but I'm not a fan of raging heroes models. Honestly might just take the risk on finecast, really like the actual incubi models.
