Sisters and Big FAQ #1

The rule of three means that special characters are essential to make two Sisters of Battle battalion detachments.  It also means a pure Ministorum force can have a max of 5 HQ units.  Presumably it will also hurt people doing Dominion spam.

Yeah, it's shot one of my list variants in the foot somewhat as I was running pairs of dominion squads in transports. Rule of three gets one and a half rhinos worth which means its back to the 'lesser' battle sisters to fill out the ranks.

Wait! If a data sheet can only be used three times we can only have three troops in our army. Unless I'm forgetting something our only troop choice is Battle Sister Squad. :( Also that really limits my Dominions. I wasn't playing all Dominions but I was planning on having five squads. I'm kind of really upset at this. I will be posting to face book about this when I get home.

The rule doesn't apply to Troops or Transports, thankfully.

That said, it's an optional rule meant for Organised Events (i.e. tournament settings) so it's not like most of us should encounter it in our games anyway.

And that, for now, they're Beta rules. Not confirmed as full ones.

Actually no, only the changes to Battle Brothers and Tactical Reserves are beta rules. The new table concerning Organised Events, which suggests caps on Detachments and Datasheets, is in the main errata document proper whereas those two are not.

Ohhh thank goodness! I must have missed that. That isn't too bad I suppose. I'll just have to re-kit the Battle sisters to meltagun storm bolter x2 and the dominions to the meltagun x4 combi-melta instead of running 5 storm bolter dominion squads all over the place. :happy.:

Might have to think about getting seraphim as well. Hmmm... I really want to do my mobile pillbox build though.

Edit: Just checked my list again. I'm good! Wooo! ^_^

Nothing dramatic unless you spammed certain units or relied on Soup.

Actually, it makes souping MORE desirable. Since we no longer have enough unit to build functional armies anyway, there's a bunch of points with nothing to spend them on we can now put into soup. Taking a Custodes bike Supreme command or a Blood angels HQ bomb is a better option than ever.

The way I see it the standard SoB list now will be:

Battalion+soup+either another soup or an outrider.

I used Dominions and Seraphim and I don't consider this a nerf because I wasn't running more than three units of either anyway.

Not running more than 3 of either was plenty nerf enough.

A Sisters Brigade generally gets me to around 2k, especially with transports. As for not running more than 3 of a specific unit being a nerf in and of itself- poor me, I'll just be content having won around 70% of my games with Sisters in this edition anyway?

Agreed in the Soup. I use to run an Imperial outrider Detachment with Shield Cap biker and an assasin...now there's almost no way to take an assasin without shorting myself CP's. Making it difficult not to just run the 3x shield cap biker Supreme Command...

Updated faq for sisters clarifies:

Can a unit use AoF when in a transport?

No.

Can a unit notnon the battlefield AoF?

No.

AoF in reppressor argument is now over.

Was updated Index FAQ posted as well? Where can I find it, thanks!

I mean, sisters can throw just about anything except exorcists at the wall and do fine in most casual settings. I stopped playing my sisters in our local scene because of how many people were getting frustrated by them.

But for larger, more serious events dominions and seraphim were excellent anti-meta options. The 6 seraphim list that took 11th at LVO is probably our best overall build with domi-spam being great against guard and marines and solid against chaos and nids. Battle sisters are only a few percentage points worse than the other options but at something like LVO or adepticon, or even a particularly competitive RTT those few points could be the difference between top 32 and 132.

You can't soup Custodes with anyone. Battle Brothers says Imperium isn't a valid keyword anymore so they don't share a Faction keyword anymore.

There are two ways people refer to Soup. You cannot 'Soup' as in bringing them in the same Detachment. You can still 'Soup' by bringing them in an allied detachment. Some people still call that Soup.

@ERJAK- The 6 Seraphim build is very strong, but I'd contend that the reason it did well is because of how unexpected it was and how no one really knew how to counter it. A peculiar build from a small army? Hard to prepare for. What harms builds for them more now is the DS rule change.

Nonetheless, it seemed to be from the start that something like this might happen. A 0-X restriction always felt like it was going to come down because of the abuses people heaped upon it.

My understanding was that each unit in each detachment must share a keyword other than "imperium, chaos, etc"

I.e. A Sisters Outrider and a Custodes Supreme Command would be viable in the same army

However an Outrider detachment made up of Custodes Shield Cap and 3 squads of seraphim would not (no mixed detachments).

The blurb in Big FAQ above the Battle Brothers rule seems to allude to this.

You are correct. The keyword restriction is for Detachments, not Armies.

My biggest beef is that I don't personally have enough heavy support for a brigade but I'm not allowed enough HQs for two batalions (unless I go with a special character). We just need another HQ option, and I'd be pretty much a-okay with the changes.

Give Sisters another HQ, give the Ministorum a non-Sisters HQ, let Imperium armies take Inquisitors as HQs breaking the new anti-soup rules. I just want one more.
