dakkamasta
So I've always had a soft spot for the Thousand Sons. I already own Ahriman on a disc and use the old Fateweaver model as a Tzeentch Daemon Prince (still looks cool and the size is about right). I'm waiting for a commission for a squad of rubrics as well (I LOVE the models). I like that Ahriman and his TS fit in well with the Black Legion fluff and would love to have a small Battalion to represent some of his warband. So I was wondering what people's opinions were on a small Battalion such as this: HQ Ahriman Daemon Prince w/ Wings, 2 talons, Crystal (can't remember name, the free deep strike one) Daemon Prince (Optional - depends on points remaining in the list) w/ Wings, 2 talons, Helm of Third Eye Troops 10 Rubric Marines w/ bolters, soulreaper cannon 10 Cultists w/ autoguns 10 Cultists w/ autoguns Possibly some defilers that I already have to make extra use of reroll 1's, Warptime and Flickering Fire. Minimum cost is just shy of 650 pts. We play 2000-2250, leaning more towards 2250. The point of this Detachment would be to maximise the psychic potential of the detachment whilst still making use of the Rubrics (will deep strike via stratagem). There is still plenty of Obsec and I can focus all the buffs on the Rubrics to get as much bang for the buck out of a single squad. All the while having strong, mobile close combat via the Princes and to a lesser extent, Ahriman. On top of this, their powers synergise very well with other Chaos legions so they can still feel like a united, Chaos Undivided force. This in turn is helped by Abaddon by providing his fearless bubble. So basically the plan is to have more cultists either from Black or Alpha Legion as a screen. Along with Berzerkers, Noise Marines, Havocs, Obliterators, possibly Plague Marines etc. The HQ's all get screened by the cultists and buff and smite where necessary. The Rubrics can come down, get -1 to hit, possibly +1 to hit/wound with Prescience/VotLW and have 3 choices to land for reroll 1's. If they get shot at they will absorb fire away from my Zerkers and Noise marines. If they don't and get charged they can zip away with the Crystal relic and continue harassing. Thoughts? It seems to me like it's a solid base for not too many points and everything synergizes in one way or another. P.S. I'm not a fan of Tzaangors hence why I'm using cultists. I like TS for Rubrics and powerful sorcerers :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346333-small-ts-battalion-to-compliment-my-black-legionmixed-chaos/ Share on other sites
Kite Senet
I like the list theoretically, but if you're aiming for psychic supremacy I'd note that you can use Rubrics for Cabalistic Focus, which you cannot do with Cultists. So there's at least some (small) reason to keep the Rubrics nearby your psykers. I agree on the Tzaangors for the most part. I have one unit myself and actually like the models (because they're pretty easy to paint) but I like keeping my army more-or-less human. dakkamasta
Well the Rubrics were going to land near them to gain reroll 1's and then potentially use the Dark Matter Crystal to then zip off to another location if needed. I also like the thematic side of having a Rubric/Ahriman/DP strike force fighting as one while the pathetic cultists run up the field in a vain attempt to gain the favour of their patron god. muhahahaha Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346333-small-ts-battalion-to-compliment-my-black-legionmixed-chaos/#findComment-5059061 Share on other sites
