Elysians being dropped?

Just had this through:

Hi,

Thanks for the email. As you may have noticed our Elysian Astra militarum range has been placed on last chance to buy. This is due to a number of reasons mostly relating to the Forge wold and greater Games Workshops business needs.
Sadly this means the models will shortly be discontinued indefinitely with no word on being returned back to the range any time in the foreseeable future.
I would suggest to place an order as soon as you are able to avoid missing out on any of these last chance to buy models for your collection.

With regards to the rules, we still have them printed in our Forge World Imperial Armour: index Astra Militarum which is still currently available on the web store and on Warhammer digital as a digital version.
While rules are in print and available to buy Games workshop considers these as official rules.
We have no plans at the moment to expand on these rules and we are unsure what this means for future FAQ's but whilst our customers own the books we see no reason why the models cannot be used as Elysians with all of the associated rules.
Should our customer wish, this particular range can also be used as regular Astra Militarum units using the Astra Militarum Codex.

Thanks again and sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Looks pretty grim if I'm honest. Guess my Elysians are doomed to obscurity :(

I mean, it's an entire range of models, most of which are a decade old, of a niche regiment in a faction that was already never really a primary seller to begin with and certainly wouldn't be now a days. It's not surprising that it's being dropped, honestly.

The Sentinels and some of the shortened weapons are really cool... but the miniatures always seemed a bit 'gangly' to me... like, if you took off the armour, they would be slimmer than elves.

The grav chutes were also a bit like a pair of security lamps too.

I guess it's time to get those carbines bought :)

Aye, that is unsurprising. Never been a fan of their very weird hunched pose, but the discontinuation of Elysians seems related to the uncertain future of the FW Index.

The message above seems to imply that the book will not get an update anytime soon, despite heavily needing it due to numerous typos/inconsistencies/pending issues.

It also casts doubts on the rest of the FW line, possibly including Krieg - which is more worrying, because at the moment Krieg is the only decently looking AM infantry line available in posable and large numbers. Will GW address this?

Again I cannot say this is surprising: for the horrible prices you pay for FW stuff, you'd expect to be able to at least have playable pieces. Instead, besides a very hastily written and generally quite poor Index, the past GW faq has slapped quite a lot of relatively popular FW units. It is only reasonable that units that already belonged to a niche have gone down in sales and are now being discontinued.

Whether this will lead to solve the GW/FW schizophrenic, dissociated relationship, or to further discontinue old FW stuff in favour of newer and more palatable products, it remains to be seen.

I had a large Elysian Army in the past but sadly had to sell it. I still had a lot of bits remaining and recently started rebuilding and ordered some Drop Sentinels last week. This news makes me sad? Disappointed? Angry? I'm not sure. It DOES make me poorer now that I have just placed an order of over $700.00 USD. If cancelling Elysians is a way to get people to buy them, then I say well played Forgeworld.

Agreed spending 700 usd now due to this well played FW well played. Might as well get them now than never, need to fleshing out some more troops and special weapons.

This is a sad day though...proportionally along with DkoK the most "realistic" looking human models in the setting.

Smoke em while you got um.

Krash

Damn, that’s a shame.

First the Forgeworld paint line and brass sheets were removed from sale, now it’s the Elysians. I wonder how the DKoK stack up in terms of sales.

I would bet that DKOK is one of their better sellers.  I can't believe they would be in danger.

That's an assumption that I'd like to believe in, the DKoK is one of my wish list armies.

Can i just say here this is a really weird time to be discontinuing the range for those who don't keep track of BL Martyrs of Elysia is going be coming out in June which if you can't guess by the Name is about the Elysian Drop troops, in fact the Whole Audio Drama series about Elysia really makes this a real puzzle since if they are going to make a fourth book why discontinue a line that could bring in new fans

$15 isn't much for an audio book

Price of models, not the book.
