Is Forgebane a good starting point to build an AdMech army?

I'm thinking of getting either half a Forgebane box (AdMech units only) and 1-2 Starr Collecting OR getting 2-3 Start Collecting instead.

Players seems a little disappointed with the mini-knight. Is it worth it or should I skip it for another Dunecrawler?

From a purely competitive perspective, you'll definitely get more mileage out of Dunecrawlers than Armigers currently. I suspect very few people would disagree sadly.

Though, as was mentioned by Bmseifer, we have no idea what changes may come in the Knight Codex that's around the corner...

As for the third Dominus, they're a surprisingly expensive model if bought on their own - you could try your luck selling your spare on Ebay or similar (though many players have the same excess from Start Collecting boxes I suspect).

Yeah, I don't have a use for a third Dominus but the bundle boxes are cheaper than buying individual models without even including the Dominus.

I'll put on ebay or use it for bits I guess.

By the way, I'm not playing super competitive. I'm only playing with a group of friends and we favour fluffy/fun armies over competitive ones.

Krakjen , My advice right now is keeping the TPD  for bits ,  going rate for these models right now is about 5-6 GBP  , due to how many people were buying forgebane just for the knights selling the rest ....   You can do an excellent Tech-priest Engineseer conversion later on ...  that Omnissian Axe is what you really care about , and as the other engineseer is both expesive and a bit dull , or old and Metal , its a great optin

Some Food for thought , TPD bits , and what looks like some kind of eldar body.

Other useful parts are the Pistol weapons  ,  which make excellent mechnanical arms for Skitari ,
The primary weapon bits ... which look great as alternative hull / sponson weapons on tanks .

Those are good advice, thank you.

That’s exactly what I’ve done, forgebane and 2 start collecting. I’ve then padded it out with a knight errant and infiltrators. Just got a spare tech-priest dominus Lyon around now.

From a competitive standpoint, you are much better off with the Dunecrawlers. On a fun-factor level and the rule-of-cool i've had an absolute blast running some Armigers along with a full knight of some variety in a Super Heavy Detachment. The armigers are also excellent models to build and paint in pieces, definitely a good buy :)

What I did is more a bet : I like big robots, so I went for armigers. 4 of them: my guess and strategy: there will be more weapons options soon with the armiger standalone box. I'll buy one of this box, duplicate the weapons and then got a bunch of 5 armigers fully armed with tons of options for cheap. With that and the upcoming knights codex, I'll be able to start a nice army with many strategy knights and/or admech. Because there is one thing for sure: those chicken are fast
