Anyone else using Be'lakor?

I finally sucked it up and added Be'lakor to a 1,000(ish) point army. I played with him for the first time today in a game versus Deathguard and he cut through everything like butter. The fact that he costs 100 points more than other princes gave me concern, but this game has me thinking it might be worth it. Is anyone else using Be'lakor? How has he worked out for you, and what strategies would you use with him?

I honestly don't see the point in using him over another Daemon Prince.

Yes he's slightly better in melee and can cast an additional power but it has to be from the Dark Hereticus Discipline with only Death Hex being of actual interest since he can't take Warptime or Prescience.

You also have to put him in a seperate detachment to benefit from your god specific stuff since he's lacking any Allegiance faction keyword and can't be summoned.

And finally you can give a regular Daemon Prince Hellforged Artefacts which change the whole thing once more. Especially Khorne DP with Skullreaver, Nurgle DP with Corruption and Slaanesh DP with Soulstealer are very close to Be'lakor melee-wise and still cost 100p less.

Be'lakor's Dark Hereticus still has a lot of offensive ability. Also, of the Daemon Princes with those weapons you named, none have access to Death Hex. He is the only prince with access to Death Hex and such a high AP weapon. Literally no saves against him, except FNP is spectacular and with 3 damage per hit, even that is not reliably effective against him.

In regards to god keywords, all having the same god in a demons dettachment gives you is an aura on the characters in that dettachment. So, you can easily make one dettachment for your god of choice, then make another with Be'lakor and Daemons of the same god. When the Daemons from Be'lakor's dettachment are within range of the characters from the other dettachment, they will still get the buff.

Also, you don't have to use a relic to get Be'lakor where he is. This means you are free to take one of those other princes you named with you in addition.

Further, with his re-rolls on saves, he actually comes in with a 75% save versus 0AP, and a 55.5% invulnerable save, which is better than Tzeentch Daemons. Plus he has an extra 2" movement.

I know looking at it initially, I didn't feel like it was worth the points. After using him in a game, I feel much better about it. I am still not happy it is so high, don't get me wrong, but I'm wondering if anyone else has actually given it a try or just dismissed it before trying.

Yesterday I played in a 1500 pt tournament not using new FAQ. Played a semi fluff khorne daemons list with nurglings and bel’akor to assist.

Beat a Girlyman, Dev and predator list using scouts and a Custodies bike list. Was at top to able were I got destroyed by Eldar flyers and reapers. Got 4th over all

List was:

Outrider- Skulltaker- 10 flesh doggos – 10 flesh doggos – 8 flesh doggos

Battalion – Bel’akor – Karanak – 20 letter – 20 letter – 3 nurglings – 3 nurglings- cannon – cannon

Bel’akor with khorne daemons is a strong combination, death hex and some ranged moral wounds really help. Example above with custodies bikes that are nightmare other wise with 4++.

With new FAQ not sure if He will have a place as with no more chaos keyword. It will be hard to run him. And with no 1st turn tie up gun line with letters, think my list will have to change or not get used much till September FAQ. Can’t live in Gun Line Edition, objectives and board control mean nothing if your tables by turn 4.

But don't marked furies gain a special rule? I.e. Tzeentch for the 4++...

Belakor was awesome index, I still like using him now but he is probably less value for points and I always struggle to fit him in a list. I find he's a great target for the +2 strength +1 attack spell and granting rerolls to all daemons has some utility in a mixed god army
