Astraeus Super heavy grav tank

Howdy all. It's been available for a while now, so I was just wondering if anyone had any positives or negatives to say about the super heavy grav tank? I'm thinking about picking one up, primarily for modelling purposes but would love to field it on the tabletop too! So wondering if anyone has any positives or negatives to share in regards to

The kit: did it need a lot of fixing as resin often does, or was it fairly reasonable to assemble? is it possible to swap out the alternative weapons once assembled?

In play: Was it worth the points? Did it get blasted off the table too quick? did it get ignored? Does the main gun perform as good as it looks like it should? Lasrippers or Plasma?

Cheers!

I have seen one, and spoken to it's owner.

It looks beautiful in person, and apparently it wasn't overly difficult to build.

As for the tabletop, it can actually be pretty decent if you cast might of heroes on it. It's slightly over costed but if you get some re-rolls it can do plenty of damage.

Might of heroes... that interesting. Just for the toughness increase? Tax time in a few months I'll see what the tax fairy brings me :P

Yeah it will be a big piece of kit, I do have a hard case that will fit it, but i'll need to cut out some custom foam for it! Luckily a friend of mine has a laser cutter he wants to play with :)

i have foam coming in the post for mine.

It was pretty easy to build, although the area where front joins to main body may be a bit tough to deal with gaps without a lot of work.

I've not used it in a game yet (lol) but plan to pretty soon.

Go for it!

If you have any pics of the join feel free to share :) I'm guessing a bit of filing and green stuff involved? probably worth pinning it too?

Too damn big. Forge World could have made a killing if it had built a point cheap Primaris transport, grav or flyer. Primaris players would have bought multiples even at FW prices ... hell making the Astraeus capable of transport would have increased it's sells.

 . . . . ARE YOU LISTENING GW?

The Astraeus is, in my opinion, a fantastic design. The rules are fine also, but the cost is far too high.

You get similar performance from two of the mini Knights armed with their auto cannons, except those only cost you 348 points.

I think this tank needs to cost no more than 500 points with all weapons included.

Agreed. GW has to stop points bias against FW super heavies. With all their Knights, Wraith Knights and Primarchs there's 0 sense in limiting fw specials.

Either fW is 40k allowed or not, but please don't faff off saying it's allowed then making it unplayable.
