Zamtro
Howdy all. It's been available for a while now, so I was just wondering if anyone had any positives or negatives to say about the super heavy grav tank? I'm thinking about picking one up, primarily for modelling purposes but would love to field it on the tabletop too! So wondering if anyone has any positives or negatives to share in regards to The kit: did it need a lot of fixing as resin often does, or was it fairly reasonable to assemble? is it possible to swap out the alternative weapons once assembled? In play: Was it worth the points? Did it get blasted off the table too quick? did it get ignored? Does the main gun perform as good as it looks like it should? Lasrippers or Plasma? Cheers! Ishagu
I have seen one, and spoken to it's owner. It looks beautiful in person, and apparently it wasn't overly difficult to build. As for the tabletop, it can actually be pretty decent if you cast might of heroes on it. It's slightly over costed but if you get some re-rolls it can do plenty of damage. Metzombie
I have one and it is not releay difficult to build but all the pistons for the grav-plates can get a bit tedious. It is ok on the field but I think it is better tanking damage then dealing it out. Honda
Rule of cool: If you have the funds, do it. You will either be loved or hated. Either is a desirable result. I would love to put one on the table. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346699-astraeus-super-heavy-grav-tank/#findComment-5068923 Share on other sites

Might of heroes... that interesting. Just for the toughness increase? Tax time in a few months I'll see what the tax fairy brings me :P Yeah it will be a big piece of kit, I do have a hard case that will fit it, but i'll need to cut out some custom foam for it! Luckily a friend of mine has a laser cutter he wants to play with :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346699-astraeus-super-heavy-grav-tank/#findComment-5069251 Share on other sites
Ishagu
Yeah, if you're running Ultras Tiggy is perfect for it as he makes it a -1 to hit by enemy weapons and can increase it's toughness. Combine a cheap captain and lieutenant and it's pretty effective. Blindhamster
i have foam coming in the post for mine.It was pretty easy to build, although the area where front joins to main body may be a bit tough to deal with gaps without a lot of work.I've not used it in a game yet (lol) but plan to pretty soon. Go for it! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346699-astraeus-super-heavy-grav-tank/#findComment-5069388 Share on other sites

Zamtro
I did end up grabbing one, thing weighs a few KG alone it feels like! Got a lot on my plate at the moment but will have a try at building it in the next month or two! General Strike
How big is it compared to a baneblade chassis? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346699-astraeus-super-heavy-grav-tank/#findComment-5102903 Share on other sites
Volt
How big is it compared to a baneblade chassis? Big On the bright side it doesn't have any pokey radio antenna to worry about snapping in a carrying case. Zamtro
How big is it compared to a baneblade chassis? Most certainly big, I'm going to be pinning it too as recommended by others to make sure its sturdy, It's also easily as wide as the Baneblade! Dracos
Too damn big. Forge World could have made a killing if it had built a point cheap Primaris transport, grav or flyer. Primaris players would have bought multiples even at FW prices ... hell making the Astraeus capable of transport would have increased it's sells. . . . . ARE YOU LISTENING GW? Basteala
I mean if the Super Heavy was better costed I'm sure that would make it see more play, too. It's not like we're swimming in good vehicles. Isn't that still on GW? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346699-astraeus-super-heavy-grav-tank/#findComment-5121614 Share on other sites
Ishagu
The Astraeus is, in my opinion, a fantastic design. The rules are fine also, but the cost is far too high. You get similar performance from two of the mini Knights armed with their auto cannons, except those only cost you 348 points. I think this tank needs to cost no more than 500 points with all weapons included. Jackalwolf
Agreed. GW has to stop points bias against FW super heavies. With all their Knights, Wraith Knights and Primarchs there's 0 sense in limiting fw specials. Either fW is 40k allowed or not, but please don't faff off saying it's allowed then making it unplayable.
