Tyranids: Synaptic Severance - This sounds brutal, but in reality most Tyranid armies utilize Hive Tyrants for Synapse (Flyrants being the flavour of the month, at least until the FAQ goes gold) so it's not really that necessary. 2 CP is also a bit pricey given the comparatively limited target space, though it would be easy to maximize this with Hellblasters.

Why wouldn't it be necessary? A unit in the backfield can target a Hive Tyrant, ignoring the character rule. You can easily snipe out that Tyrant now.

Good point! I think I'm a bit of an odd case in that locally it's 90% Flyrants and Swarmlord, who like to run far enough forward that picking them off is easy. OFC, my thoughts are entirely conjecture at this point, so take 'em for opinion at best until we get the real deal :smile.:

Don't forget about all the Genestealer Cult HQs, they'll be targetable too.

None of them have SYNAPSE CREATURE.

Unfortunately it will have the age old problem of elite units being not very survivable and very resource starved.

Yeah so far it seems DW will have the same problem as before. They can be VERY devastating and potentially the Marine army with the best damage output, however they pay for it and aren't much more durable than regular Marines so each model lost hurts even more than other Marine armies.

Decapitation Doctrine is in reference to the old special rule gained when you took a Watch Company. It let you re-roll to wound vs the Warlord, ICs or Psykers.

I'm aware of what it did previously, but with Purgatus Doctrine that already for the most part covers all warlord choices.

That and I hadn't seen it being discussed yet.

The one thing I found very ironic about Deathwatch in 7th might still hold true... they were excellent at killing marines last edition and not the best with Xenos.

I personally really hoped for significant anti Xenos psychic powers. I always felt if there was one other army aside from Grey Knights that deserved it, it was Deathwatch.

It's just access to librarius as far as the description of the datacards in white dwarf gives.

Yea, I guess I should have been more specific: I think it's a missed opportunity.

'member Starship Troopers?

The scene where the psychic guy walks up to the giant 'smart bug' and declares... "It's afraid!" and everyone cheers. (Of course he could have been lying... I mean at that point even I could have deduced that and come off as a genius and I can't bend a rubber spoon with my mind powers.)

I just imagine the DW Psychic skill set should be well in tune with how the filthy Xenos operate.

You can get bits for all this stuff on eBay bits sellers pretty cheap.  I have a 5 man Termie unit with 3x assault cannon with a BA, DA, and SW guy.  Probably cost me about $15 on top of the Terminator box.

Bits? :huh.:

Look again, that is complete Deathwing termie, with robes/heavy weapon, that alone would be more than 15$ on all bit sites I know, never mind adding complete SW TDA model with their big backpack assault cannon or that Blood Angel with huge, prominent pad that is 3-5$ all on its own. Unless you have some magical bit site on hand that ain't gonna happen...

Well if we're gonna get technical, then even buying the entire models from eBay isn't going to cost you "several hundred $ on a 4 mini unit".  Regardless, you can pretty cheaply add some flavor to your models by grabbing bits from eBay.  Hopefully that helps someone.

But, but he was a brilliant child doctor, of course they believe him................. :D

Naw, they believe him because everyone trusts Neil Patrick Harris.

Sounds like decapitation doctrine is reroll ALL failed wound rolls against the Warlord. Interesting stratagem...

Got some more bits from the stream...

Bane of Monstrosities trait- reroll failed wound rolls for your Warlord when attacking enemy vehicles or monsters.

Castalan of the Black Vault trait - Add 1 to the damage characteristic of one weapon carried by the warlord. Damage 3 bolter, and D3+1 in melee on a Guardian Spear.

Thief of Secrets Relic - Power weapon, damage 2, AP-3, pick a keyword Xenos race and reroll failed wound rolls when attacking?

Some new stuff

Traits

Castellan of the Black Vault: +1D on weapon

Relics

Thief of Secrets: 2D, AP-3, pick a Keyword and reroll failed wound rolls

Osseous Key: Vehicles -1 hit within 9"

Tactical Objective:

Score (D?)3 VP if you hold objective for 3 consecutive turns.

HTH still possbily 30 pts (off comment, so not 100% confirmed)

No Primaris Ancients

Interesting how these are largely re-works of the old ones.

That + damage weapon was mentioned as working with both profiles too... on a Watchmaster's Spear. Interesting but again, on a resource starved army we're probably looking at resource based Relics/traits.

Intercessors are 18 pts, and all their guns took a 1 pt premium hike for the SIA.

So if boltguns are free, its 3 pt difference between Intercessor & bolt rifle vs Veteran & boltgun.

That seems low, no? I mean normal marines have some sweet options still (frag cannons & stormshields) but 3 points extra for these intercessors seems like a real good deal in my opinion.

it seems taking basic marines a lot worse than a primaris army at first glance.
