Emicus
Done it? Thought about it? Do all the bases have the same round hole underneath? What magnets fit perfectly? Are they strong enough? Hoping for someone to already have done the work I am about to do... Ciler
WHy do you want to magnetise them ? To transport in a case with a magnetic sheet at the bottom, or to swap models on the base ? Jukkiz
I´m not sure if they have round base underneath. But if they do, you could glue slap of tin sheet under them. Emicus
Under the base to magnetise to a sheet, yeah. The 32mm have the round hole under the base, not sure about the other sizes. Guess I'll just have to buy some and find out! Then try find some magnets ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346806-magnetising-sector-imperialis-bases/#findComment-5070652 Share on other sites
Prot
Yes all of the ones I have do have a little slot underneath. Small though... very small. Even without the slot you can just glue a disk magnet on, couldn't you? I am considering the same thing. But I need to get the magnetic sheet figured out. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346806-magnetising-sector-imperialis-bases/#findComment-5070689 Share on other sites
Emicus
There are a few considerations. Since the depth of the bases vary I wouldn't be able to have a 'one size fits all' without using greenstuff - which is work. In my experience greenstuff isn't very good at holding magnets either, but neither is super glue, when only glued on 'one side'. With the hollow peg under the base the magnet could be effectively recessed with zero work needed, as long as I can find a perfect size magnet. And as long as the hollow peg is the same size across the various bases, 32mm, 25mm, etc. I could shave down the peg and glue magnet on it, rather than in, but again it's more work and worse quality result. I'm intending to use movement trays and have 100+ infantry done up this way, more in the future across all/most of my armies if very successful. At the moment I only have 32mm sector imperialis bases, that's where the idea sprung from, but the firewarriors om going to test it with are on 25mm and I haven't ordered those yet. Once in hand I'll do a measuring and report back :) find some magnets and see if they are strong enough! Emicus
"Local" (locallest? An hours drive) store didn't have any bases, guess I'll have to order some in >_> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346806-magnetising-sector-imperialis-bases/#findComment-5077306 Share on other sites
