Necromunda gangers as cultists?

Recommended Posts

I have been tempted, indeed my good friend WarriorFish has some Escher on the hobby bench as cultists.

But I just cant get over the height issues with them that's all. My Black Legion are predominantly running poses also and even then Escher and Goliath (arguably the nicest minis) are still too broad and tall. :(

I'm using multiple sources for cultist miniatures, including Eschers, and I'll probably use some of the others as well. I adore the Escher sprue and will probably buy more; it's very versatile both in terms of spare bitz and in terms of conversion opportunities (The two favourite mods I've done are a peg-leg cultist using a CSM skull-on-a-spike, and a particularly dynamic one doing a "pole dance of death" on a post). I'm tempted to get the others as well if they're anywhere near as good as the Eschers.

If you want a "classy" cultist look, I'd suggest using Catachan or Cadian legs with Skitarii trenchcoat torsos and arms. Then for Tzeentch, Kairic Acolyte heads. I've seen good Slaanesh cultists made out of AoS Aelves, particularly Dark Riders and/or Wildwood Rangers.

I want the feeling of a bunch of brainwashed, well-dressed 1920's Cthulhu Mythos setting college students and professors rampaging through the galaxy in pursuit of forbidden knowledge, not a bunch of musclebound thugs more likely to burn a library than loot it.

Orlocks dont scream academic cultists to me. I'm waiting for a plastic delaque gang to add some trenchcoat LARPERS to my Tzeentch cultist gang.

I agree regarding Orlocks, but they are at least closer. They have an air of civilization at least, unlike Goliath or Escher, even if it is more working class than academic.

Those radwaste cultists look nice!

I've been debating between buying Escher gangers or going with Skitarii as my Black Legion cultists recently. I generally don't care to run cultists but with their relative cheap cost, tide of traitors (even after the FAQ its still a decent stratagem), and bubble wrapping they have been looking too enticing to overlook. The one great pro for using the Escher is I will have gang if my buddies ever get into Necromunda. I'm not too bothered by their dimensions as they will probably be back babysitting artillery or an objective while the demi-gods are getting stuck in.
